May has to be one of our favorite months of the year. We’re in the midst of a lovely spring season and graduation season, which has been filling our timelines as of late. It’s also the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try new things!
Our May audiobook recommendations range from a Vietnamese-inspired fantasy to a queer contemporary to a YA mystery. After all, we wouldn’t be THP without diverse books and audiobooks. Let’s celebrate the second anniversary of our Sweet Listens column with these new May audiobook releases!

The Lost Queen By Aimee Phan

Our first May audiobook is Aimee Phan’s The Lost Queen! It’s part Vietnamese-inspired historical fantasy and part contemporary coming-of-age novel. Fifteen-year-old Jolie Lam becomes friends with the most popular girl in school: Huong Pham. From there, she starts to discover powers and memories of a past life she’s never known before. This story draws inspiration from magical folktales and the legend of the Trung sisters, two queens of ancient Vietnam. Buckle in because it’s only the first book in a duology!
