If you’ve ever been involved in fandoms (which we assume you are, considering you’re reading this,) then you have probably come across one of the most passionate groups of fans to ever walk this planet: Brazilian fans. The saying goes “If you don’t have fans in Brazil, you don’t have fans,” and there’s reason for that, Brazilians love deeply and that goes for both personal relationships as well as fan-artist relationships. They’re also very proud of their culture. So it’s really no surprise that Brazilian K-Pop fans quickly took a liking to ARrC, a 7-member group who debuted in August of 2024 and whose member Jibeen is Brazilian-Korean.
Jibeen has mentioned being born in São Paulo but moving to South Korea at a young age so his Portuguese knowledge isn’t as strong as his older brother, Disuki’s, who’s a popular YouTuber in Brazil and talks about Korean culture, check out his channel here. But if their new series on ARrC’s YouTube channel is anything to go by, things are about to change. Fala JIBEEN e Disuki (What’s Up JIBEEN and Disuki, in a loose translation) is a new project set up by the brothers where Disuki will teach his baby brother Portuguese and share aspects of Brazilian culture with ARrC members.
The teaser alone already gives us an idea of how the series will work and we won’t lie, we were giddy all throughout the video. Just seeing Jibeen talk about his favorite Brazilian dishes and mention growing up in the Bom Retiro neighborhood – which is full of Korean influence due to immigration – already made us smile from start to finish, and we cannot wait to see what else awaits us in future episodes, which will be out every Monday, 10 pm KST.
Fala JIBEEN e Disuki is walking into territory we’ve never seen before: it’s a series made in Korean, by a K-Pop idol, but with Brazilian fans in mind. It’ll highlight aspects of Brazilian culture and introduce it to a whole group through the eyes of two people who were born and raised there and experienced it all first-hand. We got a little bit of Jibeen and Disuki talking about Brazilian foods they enjoy, like feijoada, coxinha and Brazilian-style pizza, but that’s only scratching the surface of what we want to see them talk about.
Not only do we want to see the brothers dive deeper into their favorite foods, we would also love to see them discuss Brazilian music, movies and TV shows they enjoy, and maybe even cultural differences between Brazil and South Korea that they’ve noticed after living in both countries. And of course, we need to see the other ARrC members’ reactions to all of it!
But why is it a big deal for Brazilian fans? Because it means getting more attention on the country and possibly opening doors for more K-Pop acts and content to make it across the ocean. Brazilian K-Pop fans have shown time and time again how passionate they can be, and it’s about time that passion gets the recognition it deserves.
In summary, ARrC’s new YouTube series is set to be a success in our opinion and we can’t wait to watch more of Jibeen and Disuki together, as well as seeing them interact with the other members of the group.
