The Protégée By Erica Ridley

Let’s start our June Sweet Listens off strong with Erica Ridley’s The Protégée! We get taken back to France in 1850, at the height of industrialization. Enter Angélique, an 18-year-old aspiring dressmaker who would do anything to become a protégée to Paris’s top modiste. Perhaps even kill her competition, along with the wealthy class who caused her parents’ and sister’s deaths. But her ambitions start to take over her life, turning her into the very people she’s after. This anti-historical horror audiobook was so brilliant and had a twist ending we couldn’t see coming!

Vesuvius By Cass Biehn

You can probably guess where we’re traveling next with this June audiobook. Vesuvius by Cass Biehn transports us to the Ancient Roman city of Pompeii, only days before the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. This historical fantasy highlights the journey between Felix, a thief who steals the god Mercury’s helmet, and Loren, an oracle and temple attendant of the goddess Isis. Loren has seen Felix in his nightmares, and Felix has a past he can’t recall. Their fates become intertwined as they learn about the divine reason for bringing the two of them together in this doomed city.
