Fairy-slash-electronic storyteller PHEA wears her heart not just on her sleeve, but in every beat she creates. It’s more than a metaphor—in fact, it’s the thread running through her life since being diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. At just 10 years old, she suffered a cardiac arrest and ventricular fibrillation, surviving thanks to her father’s quick action before undergoing heart surgery. It was life’s way of making her grow up fast—and that maturity soon found a home in her songwriting, which she began at 13.
Now, PHEA’s making waves and weaving emotion with collaborators like Melbeatz (aka the Queen of Beats) for her latest track ‘Chronic Broken Heart’ that came out in April. We sent her some questions, and—naturally—she found a beautiful field to answer them in. Dive into her world below.
We may not have broken hearts anymore—PHEA’s already stitched ours back together—but chances are, you know someone who’s still living with a ‘Chronic Broken Heart.’ A friend, a cousin, maybe even that stranger at the bus stop. So, which lyric from the single would you hand them like a tissue and a truth bomb? Share with us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
