But one thing about EVNNE is that they are constantly changing and evolving, trying new sounds and showing new sides to their talent. While staying so true to their identity, LOVE ANECDOTE(S) and its title track, ‘How Can I Do,’ is here to show even more sides to EVNNE. With five tracks, EVNNE are doing it all and excelling every time!
‘How Can I Do’
EVNNE have always explored different genres throughout their discography, but never quite like in LOVE ANECDOTE(S). Hip-hop has always been a big influence in their music, but it’s never been as palpable as in their new title track, ‘How Can I Do.’ The mixture of hip-hop with their style of pop is exquisite, giving us a glimpse of a Y2K feel. ‘How Can I Do’ is witty and full of a charm that is so unique to EVNNE. It’s a song that truly allows them to show their best sides: vocals, choreography, essence, rap, you name it. They make it so easy to fall in love with this song, and it’s a song that will never leave your head.
LOVE ANECDOTE(S)
EVNNE continue to push the boundaries with this mini-album, and not just with the title track. Indeed, every track in LOVE ANECDOTE(S) presents different energies, influences, and different sides of EVNNE to fall in love with. ‘dirtybop’ is the absolute perfect track to start LOVE ANECDOTE(S) and transition into ‘How Can I Do.’ This first track is filled with hip-hop vibes and unique rap flows. It’s relaxed, laid-back yet full of personality and charm, and the production makes the track absolutely infectious. Even though it’s the first track, you will remember ‘dirtybop’ by the end of LOVE ANECDOTE(S).
But when it comes to production, ‘Mako’ takes the cake. This party anthem mixes the best genres to create something really special. With a hint of retro feel, ‘Mako’ feels magical, and the combination of all their voices together in the chorus makes it even more special and unique. ‘love chat’ is one of EVNNE‘s smoothest songs yet, as they tap into the R&B genre. It’s a song that really allows their vocals to shine, building up along the song in such a natural and satisfying way.
While every song brings something special to EVNNE‘s catalog, one of the biggest highlights of LOVE ANECDOTE(S) is ‘Put It On Me.’ This is nothing short of a banger, a real serotonin booster. It’s fun, groovy, and a track so true to EVNNE as a group. The different sections of the song make EVNNE shine the brightest in every aspect. The vocals and harmonies are excellent, and the raps are addictive and bold. Everything is on point. And yet, the energy is at its highest in the closing track written with the participation of Keita: ‘Newest.’ EVNNE go through different genres in this release alone, but the EDM influence is all over this track, and the raps are just beyond excellent.
EVNNE are no strangers to pushing the boundaries and elevating our expectations with every single one of their releases. They bring something new, special every time, and manage to showcase even more of their talent. We could say this is EVNNE‘s best comeback, but it’s almost a guarantee at this point that they’ll just come back with something even better to blow our minds. It’s what they did with LOVE ANECDOTE(S) and it’s what they’ll continue doing.
