Two icons on one track, and to make it even better, it’s a solo debut? Of course, we’re hyped about this one! XG’s fearless leader JURIN ASAYA has released her debut solo single, ‘PS118,’ which features another rap powerhouse, Rapsody.
This is a meeting of two truly iconic minds, but we recognize that fans of each artist might not be familiar with one another yet. Which, FYI, is exactly why ‘PS118’ is such a perfect collaboration. If you haven’t checked out ‘PS118’ yet, or if you’re new to either one of these artists, we’ve got the lowdown for you.
If You’re New To JURIN ASAYA
JURIN ASAYA is the fearless leader of XG, one of the most exciting girl groups in the world. That might sound like an overstatement, but it isn’t. Since their debut, they have stunned audiences with their assertive and fearless concept, as well as just how great their discography is. As their leader, JURIN ASAYA carries that title with her head held high! She’s also incredibly talented; aside from her music skills, she’s fluent in three languages and is a former professional snowboarder! Jurin’s rap style is completely infectious, with a poised yet sharp delivery.

If You’re New To Rapsody
Rapsody has been described as one of the best rap lyricists alive (she’s even won the Best Lyricist BET Award), and we’d agree with that statement. To back that title up, Rapsody has worked with fellow rap heavyweights like Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Lil Wayne, Erykah Badu, and more. In fact, after a couple of previous nominations, Rapsody won her first GRAMMY this year, Best Melodic Rap for ‘3:AM (featuring Erykah Badu).’ Rapsody’s lyrics tend to focus on wordplay, metaphors, and storytelling, and she executes them all at a top-tier level!

‘PS118’
The similarities in JURIN ASAYA and Rapsody’s styles fuse together beautifully in ‘PS118.’ Bouncing between one another’s verses, they each deliver their trademark wordplay and self-possessed attitudes. The thing that makes ‘PS118’ the most special, though, is the respect Rapsody and JURIN ASAYA showed one another. Check out what they each had to say about the collaboration!…
“I was truly blown away by JURIN’s sharp lyricism and performance. The fact that English isn’t her first language and yet she can express herself like that—nothing but respect. I really felt like, “She’s the real deal.” Sharing the mic with her was an absolute joy.” – Rapsody
“To me, ‘PS118’ is a song about exploring and pioneering my own universe. Working with Rapsody, we connected over the idea of “cosmic exploration and navigation,” and during the production process, it honestly felt like we were flying through space together. It was just pure fun. I’d be so happy if you could feel our journey through the words and flows we’ve woven into this track.” – JURIN ASAYA
So, can you now safely say you stan both of these artists? What did you think of JURIN ASAYA and Rapsody collaborating on ‘PS118?’ What would you like to see next from an XG solo?
