Rap music is getting a facelift now that J.Cole is allegedly back in the game. Last year, J.Cole scared fans a little when he announced he was taking a break from music. But, looks like that break isn’t lasting very long. Cole’s new album, The Fall-Off, drops on Feburary 6, 2026, which is just around the corner. Now, we don’t know much about this new era, other than we already have one song to listen to. We’re taking a little stroll down 2014 Forest Hills Drive and taking a look at four iconic J.Cole songs that are taking us into this new era, including his latest release, ‘Disc 2 Track 2.’ Learn more about The Fall-Off here.

‘Disc 2 Track 2’
At the start of the ‘Disc 2 Track 2’ music video, J.Cole presents listeners with a message that may imply that The Fall-Off will be his last album. We hope we didn’t read that correctly. All the sad stuff aside, this music video is trippy as h*ll. By the 2-minute mark, we got so dizzy, but were still so mesmerized the whole time. Like any good J.Cole track, the rapper is telling it how it is. He seems to be telling the story of a time before him, of his parents’ life, ending the song at the moment he was born. What was your interpretation of these lyrics?
“I watch my father walk back in my life and it clears up a hurt
I couldn’t explain, momma gives me my name
Then hands me over to the doctor and I watch as my spirit reverts
(Na, na, na) Then, I’m no longer here on this Earth“
‘4 Your Eyez Only’
This song has to be on this list. We’ll never forget the first time we heard this song – it was the moment we knew we were becoming lifelong J.Cole fans. We instantly deep-dived into his discography and were changed for the better. Do you remember the first time you heard ‘4 Your Eyez Only?’
‘Under The Sun’
One of our favorite, if not our favorite, J.Cole songs. The beginning of this song just transcends us to another dimension, as all the best songs do. It’s a must listen to for summertime on the beach. Afterall, that’s when you’ll be under the sun. See what other songs we’ve been adding to our playlists lately!

‘Apparently’
We’re throwing it way, way back. ‘Apparently’ is one of those J.Cole songs you have to listen to every few years to be reminded on it’s greatness. From a young age on 2014 Forest Hills Drive, J.Cole knew how to write and rap like a pro. It’s one of the reasons that to this day (even when he’s done making music), he has no competition. Move over, Kendrick Lamar, we already know who our favorite rapper is.
