The greatest artist of all time is finally getting his own biopic this year. It’s Michael Jackson, of course.
With past successful biopic movies about Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Selena, and more generationally adored musicians and bands, the question that lingered on every music fan’s tongue—when was the King of Pop getting a movie? Given how greatly Michael is loved, this is thin ice to be treading for the director Antoine Fuqua. This is one movie we cannot mess up. So far, so good. The official trailer (now released!) gives us a good glimpse of what to expect. We’re getting a full timeline of Michael’s life—from the success of The Jackson 5 to some of his more iconic solo stage moments. All we can hope for is that Michael does him, his family, and his fans justice!
To get excited for the release of Michael on April 24, 2026, we’re hitting rewind on five of our favorite underrated MJ tracks:
‘Heaven Can Wait’
We simply melt into the floor every time we hear this song. It’s just too good and really shows the breadth of Michael Jackson’s vocal talent. Honestly, every song on Invincible are ones we come back to time and time again. ‘Heaven Can Wait’ recently came back around for TikTok users and gained some traction on the app for both new and OG MJ fans. If that was your first time hearing ‘Heaven Can Wait,’ we encourage you to go back and listen to the entire album with an open mind.
‘Blood On The Dancefloor’
All the Susies out there, this one is for you! ‘Blood on the Dancefloor’ always gets us going and just may be one of Michael’s best. The first time we heard this song, we were only children, but it stuck with us ever since, and that’s when we knew Michael Jackson’s greatness would be unmatched until the end of time.
‘Burn This Disco Out’
Off The Wall is our favorite MJ album! Every single song is timeless, but ‘Burn This Disco Out’ is truly underrated. If you love disco music and everything about the late ’70s and ’80s, you have to go and stream this song right now. If you’re a Michael Jackson fan, this track has to be at the top of your favorites list. We hope it’ll make it into the Michael movie come April!
‘Can’t Let Her Get Away’
The Dangerous album is legendary, and so is ‘Can’t Let Her Get Away.’ It’s five minutes of pure genius and storytelling that hasn’t been matched since it was released in 1991. If you’re a classic ‘Billie Jean’ or ‘Bad’ fan, we think you’ll love this track just as much.
‘For All Time’
We recently came back around to ‘For All Time’ and forgot why we left it in the first place. The slower, more sultry MJ songs always make it to the top of our list, and should be on yours too. ‘For All Time’ is another track that showcases Michael’s true artistic talent, from vocals to production to lyricism. Honestly, this is just your sign to go back and listen to Michael Jackson’s entire discography before the movie arrives in theaters.
