Elton John Says Farewell: Live From Dodger Stadium

Elton John

In October of 1975 Elton John put on a legendary performance at Dodger Stadium that launched his career, and now fans of all ages have the chance to see one of entertainment’s greatest performers for the last time in North America at the place that launched his career almost 50 years ago, and we are shaking with excitement because we have the opportunity to watch it LIVE!

On November 20, 2022, the Rocket Man’s final North American show will be streamed live exclusively on Disney+.  This history-making three-hour-long live stream is giving fans a front row seat to watch the Rocket Man perform for the last time in North America.

The live stream will celebrate a huge milestone not only in Elton John’s life but in music history itself as it unfolds live at Dodger Stadium, and if anyone knows how to celebrate its music fans. The stream is giving over 50,000 in-person fans and countless number of fans, including us, worldwide access to an event they may have never gotten to see.

In a statement, Elton John says “To feel the energy from the best fans, not only in Dodger Stadium again, but this time around the world from those watching live at home, will be truly extra special for me.

The concert is said to have some big-name guests that are yet to be announced. We’re hoping for Britney Spears, Dua Lipa, and Ed Sheeran ( maybe they will sing their holiday song? Maybe they will do a duet of Elton’s song ‘ Don’t Go Breaking My Heart‘ ?) to name a few. While the setlist hasn’t been announced yet either, we are hoping for classics like ‘Your Song‘, ‘The Bitch Is Back‘, ‘I’m Still Standing‘, ‘Tiny Dancer‘, and hopefully a few songs from his 2021 album The Lockdown Sessions.

This live stream is just a little taste of what we can expect from the Disney+ documentary Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend which will be coming out in 2023. Both of these features are going to be directed by RJ Cutler and David Furnish and produced by Fulwell 73 Productions, aka the same people that produced ‘Adele: One Night Only’.

Elton John is one of the BIGGEST artists in the world, with over 70 Top 40 hits, in the US and UK alone and he still holds the record for biggest selling single from the 1997 version of Candle In The Wind because it sold over 33 million copies. We genuinely love that for him!

In 2017 his compilation album Diamonds the Ultimate Greatest Hits album celebrated 50 years of his songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin, was his 40th UK Top 40 album. It spent over 200 weeks in a row in the UK’s top 75, with 110 of them in the top 20, talk about record-breaking!

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television says “Sir Elton John’s impact on music and culture is unparalleled, and this concert event is sure to be one for the history books”. The movie itself is gonna be playing at festivals and in movie theaters before it streams on Disney+, but the concert will be live-streamed on Sunday, November 20, 2022, with “Countdown to Elton Live” from Dodger Stadium, starting at 7:30 PST / 10:30 EST.
