Are we happy? Are we sad? We don’t know. All we know is that we love the jebes. The 5th Gen front-runners are back (for the last time?) with a special single album. Across these three tracks, ZEROBASEONE are guaranteed to make your tears flow, and then RE-FLOW again.
RE-FLOW
First of all, we’d like to send our deepest condolences to every ZEROSE who has read the thank you notes inside the RE-FLOW album. Those letters from the nine members hurt. It’s been a very turbulent time for ZEROSE (and no doubt, ZEROBASEONE, too) since the contract extension announcement, with so much left to be confirmed, but one thing we can always guarantee: ZEROBASEONE’s new releases are always hits.
‘Running to Future’
The first release from RE-FLOW is aptly the first track on the album, too! ‘Running to Future’ is rife with rich vocals, but our highlight has to be Gunwook’s rap, followed by Gyuvin and Jiwoong’s harmonies in the second verse. Running has been a familiar motif in ZEROBASEONE’s discography since their debut, ‘In Bloom,’ and we love that they referenced it here as we head into an unknown future.
‘ROSES’
‘ROSES’ is euphoric and totally drenched in emotion. It’s an anthem we’d absolutely love to scream along to at a concert but. Welp! The searing rock track tells the story of how ZEROBASEONE and ZEROSE’s lives have intertwined since the group’s debut, “We’re growing alike, two of us, my rosеs.” If the sincerity conveyed through the vocal delivery in this track wasn’t enough to get your tears going, then let us remind you that this song is named after the fandom, is a love letter to the fandom, and is on the goodbye album. So. Yeah. That hurts.

‘LOVEPOCALYPSE’
ZEROBASEONE’s title track for RE-FLOW is ‘LOVEPOCALYPSE,’ and we are in pain. Putting all those tour clips into the music video was truly an arrow to our hearts! What arguably hurts even more, though, is ZB1 singing lyrics like “You’ll be the end of me,” and “You and I are bound by fate” on what is, at least, the last OT9 ZB1 song. Having said all that, the production on ‘LOVEPOCALYPSE’ is a total vibe. Are we meant to be crying or dancing? Both?
What’s Next?
After reviewing an album or comeback, we often look ahead to what the artist will be up to next. This time, though, we simply don’t know. As ZEROSE and many other K-Pop fans already know, ZB1’s extended contract is up next month, around the time of their encore concerts in Seoul. Whilst we don’t have official word of their future, the rumor mill is working overtime. Will they disband completely? Will the members signed to Yuehua (Zhang Hao, Ricky, Gyuvin, Yujin) re-debut in another group, with the other members continuing as ZEROBASEONE? We don’t know, but what we do know is that we will support each of the nine members moving forward, whether it’s together or apart.
