South Korean group NMIXX and Brazilian singer and drag queen Pabllo Vittar have been changing the way the K-Pop industry sees the Brazilian market. Ever since their first collab, ‘MEXE,’ Pabllo became the unofficial seventh member of the group and it doesn’t look like we’re anywhere near the end of this new chapter. We are, of course, talking about ‘TIC TIC,’ the new song they’ve released together and we are obsessed.
Combining NMIXX and Pabllo’s musical styles into one track and mixing influences from both cultures makes ‘TIC TIC’ unique and extremely catchy, making us want to start dancing in a musical… or anywhere in Brazil during Carnaval if we’re honest. Speaking of Carnaval, can you imagine how it felt for the girls to have performed ‘TIC TIC’ for the first time in front of two million people? We don’t know how it felt, but we know how it looked, check out the official performance video:
And let’s be real: a huge part of the reason for why this partnership works so well is because Pabllo is a huge K-Pop fan. She’s said multiple times how much she loves NMIXX themselves, TWICE, Stray Kids and others, and that reflects on how successful her collabs with K-Pop artists are. It is, as we always say, the power of being a fan.
The song blends lyrics in English, Korean and Portuguese with Pabllo’s lines being mixed in with the members’, making it sound that much more cohesive as a song. And to think we still have yet to see the MV for ‘TIC TIC!’ We can’t wait to see how it turned out. But for now, we have Instagram posts and TikTok collabs with Brazilian creators showing off the choreo.
‘MEXE’ and ‘TIC TIC’ feel like the beginning of a beautiful partnership that doesn’t care about distance, it cares about bringing cultures together in the best way possible. And we can only hope it keeps going in that direction.
