Every year is the year of ITZY, but only a few months into 2026, and we already know this is one of the best years to stan ITZY. The girls have been everywhere as they kicked off their world tour and went absolutely viral with their 6-year-old b-side, ‘THAT’S A NO NO.’ We’ve been having the time of our lives, and in the midst of that, Yuna is bringing all her charm and unique aura we’ve seen displayed so many times in every ITZY release, and she’s putting it into her much-anticipated solo debut. After Yeji‘s jaw-dropping solo debut last year, Ice Cream is yet another perfect solo debut from ITZY. Ice Cream is everything we could’ve even dreamed of, and well, so much more.
The Title Track
Yuna‘s music can be summarized in two words: dreamy pop. She’s giving us simple perfection. ‘Ice Cream’ is the ideal song to put at the forefront of the release, as it beautifully encapsulates the full extent of Yuna’s talent: her vocals, her charm, and, as expected from every ITZY member, her mind-blowing stage presence with infectious, cheeky choreography. ‘Ice Cream’ is bright, playful, flirty, and a dream of a pop song. After just one listen, its catchy melodies and Yuna‘s infectious charm will have you reaching for it again and again, singing along without even realizing. This amount of aura was only to be expected from Yuna.
The B-Sides
While ‘Ice Cream’ is a perfect song, Yuna wasn’t afraid to explore different genres and influences in her four-song mini-album, bringing something new and truly refreshing to the scene. Yuna‘s solo music remains very tied to pop throughout the mini-album, but she manages to create distinct atmospheres in each song. Yet, they’re tied together by this immaculate, dreamy energy she exerts so flawlessly.
‘B-Boy’ draws inspiration from hip-hop and features unique production, offering one of the mini-album’s best moments with its switch in the pre-chorus melody. On the other hand, ‘Blue Maze’ is heavily influenced by R&B and showcases the full extent of Yuna‘s vocal range. It goes from subtle, lower, hypnotic melodies in the verses to dreamy falsettos in the chorus. To wrap up the mini-album and prove one last time that Yuna fits every genre while giving it her own spin, ‘Hyper Dream’ is a disco banger. With a truly explosive chorus and a beautiful, optimistic, and joyful message, Yuna finishes her solo debut on its brightest note. Ice Cream is a mini-album that fully embodies the showstopping energy she has been putting on stage since debut, and in perfect Yuna fashion: it’s iconic, it’s beautiful, and it’s the moment.
