ITZY made history when they debuted as a group in 2019 with ‘DALLA DALLA,’ and since that day, they’ve continued to set the standard as a group and individually. After 6 years of serving us the best of music, performances, and stage presence, Hwang Yeji is having her solo debut – and you guessed it, it’s already iconic. Air is a four-track mini-album full of Yeji’s unique aura, beautiful vocals, and songs that explore all the sides of her talent. This solo debut is already one for the books.

The Title Track
Finding out Yeji was about to make her solo debut was enough to have everyone at the edge of their seat. And then the concept dropped, followed by the teasers for ‘Air,’ and with just that, she had everyone in a chokehold. Needless to say, ‘Air’ absolutely lived up to the expectations. There’s no better way to describe it than one big slay.
‘Air’ has an elegant energy, but it also feels freeing and full of goodness. The 80s synthpop influence is palpable, especially with such a strong and addictive bass. ‘Air’ is catchy and infectious, representing just how infectious it can be to fall for someone. Yeji is perfect for this song: the song highlights her unique tone, the more subtle sweet tones, and her more explosive vocals. And don’t even get us started on the choreography. Yeji has always been one of the best dancers in the industry, and ‘Air’ just put her up on an even higher level. The music video brings everything together. ‘Air’ is perfect all around. The song still hasn’t left our minds, and it gives us the best feeling in the world. Yeji served.
The B-Sides
What makes Air even more remarkable is how the b-sides in the mini-album complement the song and give a full picture of Yeji‘s individuality and her artistry as a solo artist. Each song shows a different yet cohesive side to Yeji. And they all bring something fresh and unique to Air, making the mini-album unforgettable.
While ‘Air’ is inspired by the 80s, ‘Invasion’ has that sound that makes it feel like a pop song from the late 90s and early 2000s. It’s a perfect follow-up to ‘Air,’ with its mature yet fresh sound. It’s one of the most unforgettable songs of the mini-album. Undoubtedly, ‘Can’t Slow Me, No’ brings that one-of-a-kind ITZY energy to Yeji’s mini-album. It’s a fun, versatile track that makes it impossible not to move along. Yeji gives us a perfect closing with ‘258.’ This sweet song is nostalgic and emotional but also full of hope and joy. It’s a song that highlights her vocals in the prettiest way and brings the mini-album to a beautiful closure.
Yeji has been someone to keep your eye on, even before her debut. She’s always been a mind-blowing performer, versatile vocalist, and everything in between. Her solo debut highlights all the talent we already knew Yeji held for everyone to see. Air is a perfect pop mini-album with its refreshing and infectious tracks and the undeniable touch of Yeji’s unique aura. This is a perfect solo debut.
