ITZY are quickly making a name for themselves as one of the biggest fourth-gen K-Pop groups, so it might surprise you to know they hadn’t made an original Japanese track until now! We’ve gotten amazing Japanese versions of songs like ‘LOCO,’ ‘DALLA DALLA,’ and ‘WANNABE,’ but this time, we’re getting a whole new masterpiece.
Fresh off the tails of their first full album, Crazy In Love, the girls are back with two incredible Japanese songs: ‘Voltage’ and ‘Spice.’ The songs allow Chaeryeong, Lia, Ryujin, Yeji, and Yuna to show off their talents like never before, offering a perfect balance of edgy and classy.
ITZY dropped ‘Voltage’ towards the end of March, and we love the song’s empowering pop-rock vibe! From the very start with the horn intro, the track feels simply triumphant, and it only gets better when the beat kicks in. This is ITZY at their brightest and boldest, with what might be some of their best outfits to date. Some of the motorcycle shots in the video are even giving us the same vibe as Aespa’s ‘Next Level’ video – our Itzspa hearts are melting!
“Don’t underestimate me, ’cause I’m just a girl
No way, no way, no way
If you’re serious, shake the world…”
Going in a slightly different direction while still accenting their powerful pop with guitars, ‘Spice’ is an R&B-tinged song about adding some “spice” to your life, whether that’s on your own or with someone you want to spend more time with. The dreamy choruses let the girls of ITZY show off their gorgeous vocals while the heavy-hitting beat keeps the energy up! In the best way possible, the verses remind us of the verses on BLACKPINK’s ‘Don’t Know What To Do,’ so be sure to consider pairing them on your favorite K-Pop playlists.
“You don’t have to worry about it
Just do as you please
I just wanna feel that spice now…”
