Lollapalooza editions across Latin America happened this past week, and many artists delivered great performances. But one group really stole the spotlight in Argentina, Chile and Brazil: Riize, who became the first male K-Pop group to ever perform at these festivals. Latin America was already filled with Briize, but after these three incredible performances, we’re sure the group gained many new fans and made a lasting impact.
This was Riize’s first ever visit to Latin America, but if we had to guess, we’d say it’s far from being the last. At least that’s what we’re getting from the joint statement the group released regarding the Lolla performances:
“Performing at Lollapalooza in Latin America was an unforgettable experience for us. The passion and energy from the crowd were beyond anything we imagined, and even from the other side of the world, we truly felt connected with our fans through our music. We’d love to come back.”
And let us tell you, these boys had the best time both on and off stage, especially in São Paulo, their last stop in the continent. After stellar performances on March 14 at Hipódromo de San Isidro in Buenos Aires, Argentina and March 15 at Parque O’Higgins in Santiago, Chile, Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Sohee and Anton (or Antônio, as he introduced himself) flew to São Paulo for their last Lollapalooza set on March 21 at Autódromo de Interlagos in São Paulo, Brazil.
And in between their arrival in the continent’s biggest city on March 18 and their Lollapalooza appearance two days later, the sextet went on many side quests we can’t help but mention. Before bringing their fans a setlist of 18 songs—including the fan favorites, ‘Get A Guitar,’ ‘Talk Sexy,’ ‘Siren,’ ‘Impossible,’ ‘Boom Boom Bass,’ ‘Combo,’ ‘Fly Up,’ and ‘Fame’—the boys went on a talk show, went out for ice cream, did some graffiti, and so much more.

Riize’s appearance on The Noite com Danilo Gentili was a personal highlight for us because of how many iconic moments it gave us. Anton and Eunseok got a surprise birthday party filled with all the standards of a Brazilian party from the 90s and 2000s, the boys all fought over candy, Sohee showed why he’s the main vocal on a singing battle against the host, and we got Anton covering ‘Águas de Março’ live on TV.
The boys also visited Beco do Batman (or “Batman’s Alley”) in São Paulo, where they had burgers, ice cream and participated in a graffiti session (which will stay there until March 30 if you’re around and want to get a photo of it before they remove it). Oh, and they also got to enjoy a bit of the festival as well, as they were spotted amongst the crowd during Sabrina Carpenter‘s concert, and they wore personalized Santos FC jerseys at that. (It wouldn’t have been our personal football team choice, but if they’re happy, we’re happy.)
Riize members also made sure to make audience-specific remarks throughout each concert in English, Spanish and Portuguese, deepening their connection with each country’s audience and making their experiences that much more special. We must admit, though, that our favorite of these moments were the boys chanting “Eu não vou embora” (“I’m not going home”) in São Paulo at the end of their set. Brazilian fans are known to do this at the end of concerts as a way to ask for one (or several) more songs, and to see them do it on stage was really cute and fun, and it shows how immersed they were in the local culture.
After all of that, we think it’s safe to say Riize had the best time in Latin America and we can definitely expect them back pretty soon, especially as we see their global presence and popularity growing. After the LatAm festival run, the group is headed back to Asia for major festivals in April, including Japan’s The Performance, Lovesome Festival, and Thailand’s K2O Songkran Music Festival.
