Billie Eilish has done it again. This time, with James Cameron at her side. The directing duo has reinvented the concert experience by bringing Billie’s sold-out HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR to movie theaters…in 3D! Before today, we never even thought capturing a concert in 3D was possible, but as we all know, Billie Eilish is always up for a challenge. Fans around the world have been waiting for this movie for months, and now that it’s finally here, we can’t contain our excitement, so of course, we had to bring it to the hive and share it with all you honeybees who also love Billie.
Tickets for Billie’s concert film are now on sale, and the film debuts on May 8th. We saw an early screening of HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) on April 29. Here’s how it went!
Experiencing HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR In 3D
The movie is even better than you can imagine. Trust us, we went to HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR nine times (definitely not excessive) and we can confidently say that this movie had us feeling like we were right back on the barricade jumping to ‘bury a friend’ and crying to every word of ‘SKINNY.’ On top of that, every scene was filmed in 3D, which means we were getting up close shots of Billie on stage, and it even felt like we were on stage with her at certain points. Nothing beats being able to see and feel what your favorite artist is seeing and feeling onstage – we got shots of Billie inside the box before the lights came up for ‘CHIHIRO,’ under the stage between songs, and tons of BTS footage of her in her dressing room and on the road with her band.
Seeing Our Friends On The Big Screen
One of the best parts about experiencing HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR at the movie theater? Seeing all our friends on the big screen! From personal interviews about why they love Billie to up-close shots of them singing on the barricade, we saw so many of our friends and mutuals on the screen, which made the experience that much more personal and amazing. Including seeing those we love on the screen, other standout moments included seeing FINNEAS perform onstage with Billie, Billie talking about the growth of her career and her connection with fans while backstage in Manchester, and of course, “catching” the falling confetti during ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER.’ While at the movies, soak up every amazing moment of the night! Dance with your friends, sing with new friends, and of course, take all the cute pictures.
‘THE GREATEST’ Night Of Our Lives
With our HIT ME HARD AND SOFT popcorn buckets and reusable cups in our hands, we left the theater running on adrenaline. It truly felt like we just left the actual concert! There’s no better way to re-experience this tour than seated (or standing and dancing) at your local movie theater. No pun intended, but it truly was ‘THE GREATEST’ night of our lives. Do we plan on seeing this movie 4 more times? Well, yes. We never want the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT era to end, and now, it really won’t.
