It feels almost impossible that there was ever a version of pop culture without KATSEYE in it. Six members, four continents’ worth of backgrounds, and a sound that refuses to sit politely in one lane. They didn’t ease into the scene… they kicked the door open and dared everyone to keep up.
So, we figured the best way to celebrate the group is to look back at the moments that turned casual listeners into full-blown Eyekons. Some of these are loud. Some of them snuck up on us. All of them are the reason we’ve been hooked since the very start. Let’s get into it!
When ‘Debut’ Did Exactly What Its Name Promised
A first single is a tricky thing. You only get one shot at a real introduction, and most groups play it safe. KATSEYE went the other way. Released in June 2024 with a music video filmed in Medellín, Colombia, ‘Debut’ arrived as an upbeat pop track built around confidence and a sisterhood that felt earned rather than manufactured. Six voices traded lines like they’d been doing it for years. You know that feeling when a song just clicks on the first listen? That was the whole vibe here.
The ‘Touch’ Choreography Taking Over Your Feed
Here’s the thing about a great hook. It’s nothing without the moment that makes everyone want to copy it. ‘Touch’ arrived in July 2024 as a melodic drum-and-bass R&B track that leaned hard into the members’ vocals, a real left turn from the sound of ‘Debut.’ Then something special happened. The choreography went viral as a dance challenge on TikTok in September 2024, and suddenly, the song was everywhere. If you saw the same eight counts of movement on loop for weeks and found yourself trying it in the mirror, no judgment. We were right there with you!
Building Their Whole World With SIS (Soft Is Strong)
A couple of strong singles can carry a group for a while, but an EP is where you find out if there’s real substance underneath. Released on August 16, 2024, SIS (Soft Is Strong) landed with five tracks, debuted at number 119 on the Billboard 200, and sent KATSEYE straight to the top of the Emerging Artists chart. The title says everything you need to know about who they are. Softness as a source of power, not a weakness to hide. For a rookie group, planting that flag so early was a bold little statement, and it stuck.
Letting Us See The Whole Messy Journey
Most groups hand you the polished final product and hope you don’t ask too many questions about how it got made. KATSEYE did the opposite. The Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE chronicled the audition process, the intensive training, and the formation of the group, the whole gloriously human grind of it. Watching the tears, the close calls, and the moments when it all could have fallen apart made the wins hit so much harder! It’s hard not to root for people once you’ve seen exactly what it costs them.
Crashing The Fashion World Like They’d Always Belonged
Not every group can pull off a hard pivot into high fashion without looking like they wandered in by accident. KATSEYE made it look effortless. In September 2024, they attended their first New York Fashion Week at Coach’s Spring Summer 2025 show, which spun into a string of promotional content for the brand. By April 2025, they’d been folded into Fendi’s campaign celebrating the brand’s 100th anniversary, fronting two of the label’s most iconic handbags. Their styling, all those Y2K low-rise jeans and archival pieces, became as much a part of the conversation as the music. That’s a flex!
‘Gnarly’ And The First Hot 100 Entry
Every group dreams of that one moment when the charts finally catch up to what the fans already knew. ‘Gnarly’ arrived on April 30, 2025, as the lead single from their second EP, and became KATSEYE’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. The song split opinions on arrival, and plenty of people had thoughts. But here’s the funny part. The track that some called mildly irritating turned out to be the one that truly commands a crowd live, all fun choreography and lyrics that lodge themselves in your brain whether you want them there or not. Sometimes the song you swear you don’t like is the one you can’t stop playing.
Beautiful Chaos Hitting Number Four
The second project is where many groups quietly lose momentum. KATSEYE did the opposite and leveled up. Beautiful Chaos, released on June 27, 2025, and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, their highest-charting release to date. That’s a serious jump from a number 119 debut a year earlier, and it told everyone watching that the group wasn’t a flash in the pan! The momentum was real, and it was building fast.
Owning The Festival Stage At Coachella
There’s live, and then there’s festival live, where you’re sweating it out under the desert sun in front of a field full of strangers who didn’t necessarily come for you. KATSEYE made their Coachella debut in April 2026 to stellar reviews, with Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and others ranking their performance among the best of Weekend One. The reviews kept circling back to the same thing: that energy that never once dipped across the whole set. For a group barely two years into existence, packing out a festival field like seasoned headliners is the kind of moment that tells you everything about where they’re headed.
Eight moments, one group, and a whole lot of reasons we’ve been all in from the jump. The wild part is that this might still be the beginning. With WILD on the way in a couple of months and an arena tour ahead, the next chapter looks even bigger, and we’ll certainly be watching every second of it!
