Our favorite ‘Dirty Habit?’ Being a chronic Towa Bird fan.
The release of Towa Bird’s Gentleman had fans eagerly begging for a tour. The Gentleman Tour kicked off at The Independent in San Francisco, CA, a beloved intimate venue in the heart of the city. This was the perfect venue for Towa to introduce the tour! The sound of her shredding the guitar coupled with screaming fans moshing in the pit was our ideal live show experience. As fans in the audience for opening night, here’s how our evening with Towa Bird went.
The VIP Experience & Mother Soki Opening The Show
Before Towa could take the stage for the actual show, a handful of fans trickled into the venue for the VIP pre-show experience. This includes a meet-and-greet and photo op with Towa, one general admission ticket, an autographed commemorative laminate and special VIP gift item, priority entry onto the GA floor, and pre-concert merchandise shopping opportunity. From what we could tell, this experience was very intimate and not rushed. If you want to meet Towa, this is definitely the time and place to do it! Find more info about tickets here.
The show opened with a gorgeous performance by Mother Soki, who entered the stage wearing a floor-length black dress and black leather gloves. Immediately, we were drawn into her stage presence as the lights lowered and a spotlight showered over her. Her song ‘Sulk’ stood out the most to us, and the entire performance was entrancing. Towa Bird Is The Top ‘Dog’
Let the screaming begin. Towa’s entrance onto the stage was followed by her band strutting on, dressed in suits and setting the stage for The Gentleman Tour. Naturally, following the themes of the new album, Towa walked onstage in a perfectly steamed pantsuit, red tie, and a giant smile on her face. She grabbed her red guitar and went straight into singing ‘Gentleman,’ a certain fan favorite from the new album of the same name. Other standout song moments included ‘Dog,’ when the audience started barking; ‘B.I.L.L.S.,’ when Towa threw a giant inflatable balloon into the audience; ‘Victoria,’ when Towa pulled out an acoustic guitar for a quiet moment; and ‘Deep Blue,’ when we were the first audience to hear a special unreleased track.
The Gentleman Tour Setlist
Since this show was opening night, we had no idea what to expect. Once the paper setlist was taped down to the stage, fans in the front row stretched their arms out to take a picture and be the first ones to get the news to fellow fans online. We have to say, this setlist was exactly what we were hoping to get! The night was a perfect mix of guitar shredding moments, unreleased tracks, and those slower love songs that Towa does beautifully. One Megaphone, A Red Tie, And A ‘Wild Heart’
This was truly such a rockin’ show that we don’t want to give too many spoilers away. One major spoiler, though, is that if you don’t decide to attend The Gentleman Tour, you will utterly regret that decision. Towa’s live show is truly meant for all music lovers, of all ages, and of all demographics beyond. There was even a dog in our audience! As we said, there is something in Towa’s music for every type of fan. If you are planning on attending, don’t forget to bring the following: a red necktie, some rubber ducks, your girlfriend, and a megaphone (that’s a surprise you’ll have to wait to experience).
