The leaves are turning, the blankets are out, and your watch list just got a whole lot longer. Fall is prime time for anime. It’s cozy enough to marathon on a rainy Sunday and stacked enough to make you rearrange your entire week around premieres. Some of these shows are brand new to you, and some are old friends coming back, so we sorted the season into five picks that deserve your time. Grab a snack and get comfortable. Your backlog is not going to watch itself.
The Apothecary Diaries (Watch Or Re-Watch)
If you have not met Maomao yet, this is your sign to get to know her. Set inside an imperial palace, the story follows a sharp-tongued apothecary who cannot resist a good poison puzzle, and she is easily one of the most magnetic leads in recent anime. Season three kicks off this fall on Crunchyroll, and it returns ahead of a theatrical movie planned for December in Japan. A quick re-watch of the first two seasons will remind you just how many palace secrets are hiding in plain sight. Court politics have never been this fun!

Black Clover (Re-Watch)
Five years is a long time to wait for a comeback. The original run wrapped at 170 episodes in 2021, and now Asta is heading back to the screen for season two this October. If you missed the first go-round, the good news is that you have plenty of time to catch up before the new episodes land. It is a big, loud, and stubborn shonen about a kid with zero magic in a world made of it, and that underdog energy hits differently when you have been waiting this long.
