HUH YUNJIN is one of our favorite ‘FEARLESS’ idols in K-Pop as a member of LE SSERAFIM, but did you know she shines just as much on her own? Since debuting with LSF in May 2022, YUNJIN has released several solo songs that really showcase not only her gorgeous vocals, but also her undeniable songwriting talent. Let’s celebrate her art take a look at some of our favorite lyrics she’s written!
“In this ugly world where the color is fading, you’re beautiful in every color and shade…”
Of course, we have to start with a lyric from YUNJIN’s first solo song! She released ‘Raise y_our glass’ to celebrate LE SSERAFIM’s 100-day debut anniversary, and it’s a sweet tribute to not only her fellow members, but also to FEARNOTs. We always love a good color metaphor and this lyric is so heart-warming, really showing off how much she admires Sakura, Chaewon, Kazuha, Eunchae, and their fans.
“They love when I’m a mess, damsel in distress…”
‘I ≠ DOLL’ is one of the most impressive K-Pop solo songs ever in our eyes, and part of what makes it so special is that it speaks directly on what it’s like to be an idol knowing the world is watching. She calls out the hate idols get and reminds us that they’re people, too, not deserving to get so much negativity spewed at them online. There’s also a fun tie-in to LE SSERAFIM’s iconic “I’m a mess, mess, mess” lyric from ‘Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s Wife!’
“In seven years time, will I look back and wonder why I was such a mess, unable to relax?”
The girls that get this lyric from ‘love you twice’ get it. This song is all about navigating your insecurities and wondering what other people think of you, even during times when you “should” be grateful and focused on the present moment. It’s natural to have those kinds of anxieties, and hearing YUNJIN sing about them makes us feel so much less alone in it!
“It’s the beginning, take it back, my life…”
The final lyric we wanted to spotlight is from ‘blessing in disguise,’ which sees YUNJIN looking back at her time as a trainee and what it was like stepping into that life even when she was scared of what the future held. This line, as translated by Genius Korea, feels like a turning point in the song where YUNJIN realizes that taking such a big risk is her opportunity to make her dreams come true, and it’s so special to hear it knowing that she’s reached so many of her goals. We can’t help but be proud of her!
