Valentine’s Day is finally here once again and if there is one thing you can count on us to be all over the romantic songs for this holiday. The newest one we’re obsessed with is Lily Williams’ latest release, ‘Love You To Death.’ If you’ve ever looked at anyone and thought “you’re so cute I could squish you,” then we guarantee this is the song for you.
Lily Williams is known for her romantic songwriting, having already given us bangers like ‘Kinda Like The Heartbreak,’ ‘What If I Still Miss You‘ and ‘Learning Curve,’ which is a such a cute song, by the way, you should definitely check it out as well.
But back to the topic of ‘Love You To Death’ now. Playing with the two meanings the phrase can have, the lyrics of the song talk about being around a person the singer loves so much she can never get enough of them. It’s both about being sure they’ll be in love until the last day and also about that person being too cute to handle. We don’t know about you, but that sounds like a pretty sweet relationship to us.
Having those lyrics paired with the soft melody of the song just makes it even better. ‘Love You To Death’ is light-hearted and has some very clear bossa nova influences that makes anyone want to get up and dance with their special person around the kitchen in the middle of the night. Can you tell we’ve thought about this a lot?
“This was such a fun song to write, and it’s such a fun song to sing! I think it might just be the perfect way of saying ‘I love you’ to your Valentine this year!”
