We Love NYC Homecoming Concert Celebrates The Return Of Live Music

Live music is back in New York City! We headed out to the We Love NYC Homecoming Concert in Central Park to celebrate the return of music in the city with some of the most legendary artists of all time.

What better way to celebrate the city than a New York medley by the one and only New York Philharmonic? The sun had come out just in time for the start, and trust us, it felt like a dream. They were soon joined by Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli and singer/actress Jennifer Hudson.

Various speakers introduced the different performers. We got to hear stories of the city from the legendary Clive Davis, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, and CNN anchor Don Lemon, to name a few.

We got to hear our faves Julia Michaels and JP Saxe perform the incredible ‘If The World Was Ending.’ We may or may not have shed a tear… trust us, you would’ve too.

Jon Batiste had everyone up and moving with ‘FREEDOM.’ How could you not want to dance? Before leaving the stage, he made sure to tell everyone that he loves them, even if he doesn’t know them. We all needed that after the last 18 months.

Total Music Legends Brought The Energy To Central Park

Even though the show was evacuated halfway through due to lightning in the middle of Barry Manilow’s set, we still got to see some absolutely legendary performers.

When LL Cool J took the stage, he brought out generations of hip-hop stars from A Boogie wit da Hoodie and French Montana to Run-D.M.C.’s Rev. Run and Busta Rhymes for a mashup of classics. Central Park was electric!

Journey rocked the crowd with ‘Any Way You Want It’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believin,’ and trust us when we say everyone in Central Park was singing along. We also got the see Earth, Wind & Fire perform ‘September’ before bringing Lucky Daye on stage for their new collab, ‘You Want My Love.’
