Simply put, we at THP are in love with V!V’s stunning track ‘Psych!’ Combining R&B vibes with dark pop sounds, the song shows off her talent and perspective in a fresh way that we just can’t get enough of. We can’t believe she’s only 20, and ‘Psych!’ is the perfect song to get on the V!V-stanning bandwagon with.
With ‘Psych!’ I’m thinking both about the definitional meaning of psychology, as well as the slang term “sike” (using mind games to fool someone). It’s about thinking a relationship is going one way and then it turning 180° on you. My response to most unpredicted behavior from people is to figure out the how and why using psychological concepts. It doesn’t always work.
V!V
At an age where most teenagers are thinking about college applications or getting ready for prom, V!V was laying the groundwork for pop superstardom and collaborating with fellow Chicago-based artists. She released her first songs during her senior year of high school, after growing up watching her dad make music as producer CBVB, in his home studio. He even produced ‘Psych!’ and we’re obsessed with the results.
Viv had a lyrical motif and a melody that she felt demanded a slower, vibey track that’d be more in touch with her soul/R&B side as compared to the upbeat feels of her last two singles, ‘MY NRG’ & ‘Sun x Moon.’ I also wanted it to be more minimal and intimate with Viv’s voice right up front.

V!V is also very involved in the visual aspect of her work, and we love the duality between her creepy visuals and her fluttery voice. She’s such a versatile artist that we can’t wait to see more of. This is only her third official single and she’s already as polished and ambitious as our favorite mainstream artists!
