If you are a fan of the band ‘HERS’ or ‘Beach House,’ we think you’ll love Sonic Blume. Sonic Blume has a young and inviting vibe to their music. From their energetic nature, their talent speaks for itself. We got to see them take the stage at Fete Ballroom in Providence, RI last weekend and absolutely loved it. If you are wanting to catch their next few concerts, here’s a review of their intimate set in Rhode Island!
First off, it would be a miss if we forgot to mention the openers, Strange Weekend and Orion. Both bands gave us an amazing set that the crowd cheered for, endlessly. Orion opened the night with an amazing light-up keytar and some track-pad loops. Their music had created the perfect transition to the next band, Strange Weekend, who have similar vibes to bands like the Smashing Pumpkins and the Cocteau Twins, absolutely smashed their set. If you haven’t heard of them yet, take your ticket and run to Spotify now. Both openers had stayed true to themselves and brought along some new fans in the process.
As for Sonic Blume, we could write a whole novel on how much we loved this concert–but we won’t as their music in person is such an amazing and individualized experience. But we will let you into a secret: bring your most comfortable shoes as you’ll be dancing all night long. The set included some of the fan favorites like ‘Sunflower Bean’ and ‘Ode to Sawyer’s Girlfriend.’ Plus, getting to hear two new songs, while the band had nothing but smiles all night as they interacted with the crowd, was magical.
It was an amazing concert, and if you are reading this far, please please please go listen to Sonic Blume! There’s something for everyone to love in their music and it is clear that these boys are in it for the right reasons. To stream their newest album, listen here! Oh! And don’t forget their newest East Coast tour, so you can see them jam out for a night too!
