Hello Honey Poppers! We’ve got the perfect band to fill your Summer days and future playlists. coldrain is a J-ROCK band consisting of lead vocalist Masato, guitarists YKC and Sugl, and drummer Katsuma. They just celebrated their 15th anniversary as a band, and they’re going as hard as when they first started! Alongside their anniversary, coldrain has released their 7th studio album, Nonnegative.
coldrain’s last album, THE SIDE EFFECTS, was released in 2019, so you can only imagine how excited fans were about the news of a new album! Nonnegative features 12 incredible tracks that vary in instrumental heaviness but have the oh-so-lovely sound of coldrain. Three of the tracks, ‘Before I Go,’ ‘Calling,’ and ‘Paradise (Kill The Silence),’ we heard before the album came out, and whew, did it get us even more ready for the release. And if you’re a fan of No Doubt, well, there is a surprise in the form of track 11 👀
Where You Should Start
We know when discovering new artists, you need to be able to dip your toes into the water first, and with us being in love with coldrain’s Nonnegative, we think of ourselves as self-appointed pros. And yes, all 12 tracks should and will make it into your heavy rotations, but you should start with these four. ‘Rabbit Hole,’ ‘Cut Me,’ ‘Bloody Power Fame,’ ‘From Today,’ and ‘Help Me Help You.‘ Each track, in our opinion, shows off what coldrain has been releasing these last 15 years and includes some new vibes. Their vocals and the instrumentals are also incredible in these tracks, so like we said, check ’em out.
And after checking out those four, make sure you find yourself down the ‘Rabbit Hole’ of Nonnegative here.
The group has also just opened up their international store, with more shipping options available soon. Which could possibly mean more tour stops in the future 👀? Honestly, all we can do is hope right now.
