3 Rising Artists Whose Debuts Are Rocking Our World

There are few things we at THP love more than getting to share the best new music with you, and we’re stoked that we get to introduce you to some of our recent faves today! We hand-picked three rising artists who just stepped out on the scene and are already blowing our minds with their talent and creative vision. Let’s get into it!

Laura Gomes – ‘More Than Friends’

Already receiving support from Spotify editorial playlists, ‘More Than Friends’ is a pop wonderland of introspective lyrics and gorgeous vocals that help tell the track’s story of unrequited love. Laura grew up listening to Adele and Leona Lewis, so it’s no wonder why she’s already such a polished artist! This song will definitely be a staple in our pop rotation, it’s just such a good vibe and painfully relatable.

I created scenarios that I know many people go through with the frustration of failed talking stages and feeling as though you’re being led on. My hope is for this song and future songs within my EP to be a safe spot for people who are unable to express their own emotions, using my music to do so. Also, shoutout to the amazing producer and organizer I worked with on this, Mo And Promise, for
helping the sound come together.

Sarah Cothran – ‘Baby Why’

Intertwining 50s-esque melodies and aesthetics with a light trap beat that offers a modern edge, ‘Baby Why’ perfectly captures the ups and downs of a tumultuous relationship with a fresh flair. “I kinda like our lovely life,” Sarah muses on the bridge before moving into the crescendo of the chorus, exploring how toxic situations can feel like comfort of sorts when you’re used to them. You’ll have to get used to Sarah dominating the airwaves and your heart because she’s only going up!

I was inspired by a lot of vintage sounds when I was writing and producing ‘Baby Why’ and I knew I wanted to carry that out into the visuals surrounding the song. In the music video I’m arguing with “my boyfriend” on the phone while watching television. The song involves a lot of back and forth in a toxic relationship and I feel like the beginning scenes really captured that. I then start zoning out and imagining myself in different TV channels. I wanted to make sure to keep a nice balance of the 50’s era inspirations while also staying true to me, and this felt like the perfect way to do so.

PM FRVR – Long Story Short

There are so many incredible hip-hop artists making waves right now, and it blows us away, but one of our favorites is definitely PM FRVR. Everything we’ve heard from him so far sounds so sleek and effortlessly cool, and his debut Long Story Short EP is no exception. When he says “I know I’m MVP” on ‘Reacquainted,’ he’s speaking nothing but facts! Take 20 minutes to listen to the full project, and you’ll see why he impresses us so much.
