There’s something about certain songs that can capture you and gently guide you away from reality for a while. British indie-pop artist Molly Warburton has provided us with a song that does just that. ‘Gravity’ holds a dreamy, otherwordly quality, one that almost casts a spell on us. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let her soothing, melodic vocals whisk you away.
This effervescent new single from Molly Warburton, and her first of 2023, takes inspiration from her own experiences and her adoration for music. ‘Gravity’ is an uplifting and infectious song that is sonically inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, KT Tunstall and Kate Bush.
For us, the opening melody immediately paints a picture. Running through a lush green field, spring looming graciously around the corner with beautiful buds desperate to blossom. The grass is flowing delicately around us, feet eagerly treading through with our arms spread out in the eternal hope that we can fight ‘Gravity’ and reach for the stars.
Many may think it’s about someone, but actually, it’s about something.
Although we absolutely adore finding our own interpretations and visions when listening to new music, it’s always a blessing to know the artist’s meaning of a song they’ve created. Discussing her new single, Molly states, “I guess when being a musician you can fall in and out of touch with your sounds, inspirations and passion for your music. When I wrote ‘Gravity’, I had just recently been through this cycle of feeling very uninspired to perform or write new music, almost falling out of love with it, but after taking some time out and realizing what I had achieved and developed through music, I found this new energy, new sounds and a new love for my music.”
