BooSeokSoon Pump Us Up With Second Wind

Carats! We’ve come a long way since dancing to the first and only BooSeokSoon song for five years straight. Yes, five years, and we made it to see a BooSeokSoon comeback. Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi finally reunited as their quirky, upbeat, and fun unit of Seventeen for their first single album Second Wind.

BooSeokSoon, with the help of Lee Young Ji, took on the role of Carat’s biggest motivation. ‘Fighting’ is the energy-raising title track made to fight that morning drowsiness. ‘Fighting’ is the embodiment of BooSeokSoon as a unit. It’s fun, energetic, catchy, and full of talent. Lee Young Ji’s involvement in ‘Fighting’ added a ton of spice to an upbeat track. Her resonant voice flowed perfectly along the beat without retracting any elements of the fun we met earlier in the song. BSS and Lee Young Ji was an unexpected collaboration that ended up giving up the best morning boost possible.

Second Wind is set up with each song being for a different time in the day. ‘Fighting’ was made for the morning, and ‘Lunch’ was made for the afternoon, specifically after lunch. ‘Lunch’ is a Pop-R&B track made to fight the drowsiness you made feel after lunch. We’ve all been there, the after-lunch nap is a real thing. BooSeokSoon slowed it down to a mid-tempo for ‘Lunch’ contrasting the quick-witted predecessor ‘Fighting.’ The mid-tempo resembles the slowing of the day after lunchtime; the day is halfway done, so push through!

To wind down after a long day, ‘7PM’ is a slow-tempo track to set the mood for the rest of the evening and to prepare for another energetic morning. BooSeokSoon teamed up with Pedar Elias to deliver this beautifully smooth song. Their vocals became more delicate, as opposed to the powerful and vibrant vocals served at the beginning of the album. ‘7PM’ is the last song on Second Wind which makes the album perfect to repeat for the next day.

BooSeokSoon are our motivators, as this album was made to motivate all their carats, and we feel pretty motivated!
