We all have regrets, but what do you do with those regrets? Do you wallow in them until better days arrive or do you use them as fuel for self-improvement and art? Emei does the latter and never fails to impress us, especially with her new track ‘Regrets!’ This pop-rock banger addresses different regrets she’s had in life, some of which she had no control over, in an empowering way that makes us feel like we’re not alone in our own regrets and doubts.
[This song] was inspired by one of my night time journal entries consisting of a brain dump of every single stupid regret I’ve had. It starts with a light-hearted sarcastic list and it devolves into all the things that I shouldn’t have done and the things I wish I could change. Though at first a slow ballad, it eventually hits a peak paralleling my frustration with myself. This single is the last single leading up to my debut EP and a glimpse into my hectic, existential, late-night brain. Emei
Did we hear that correctly? We’re getting an entire Emei EP soon?! Dreams do come true! It’s been a little over a year since she debuted with ‘Distracted,’ and since then, she’s moved to Los Angeles, branched out and pushed her creative boundaries, racked up a few million streams, and stolen our hearts. There’s so much ground she can cover with a full EP and we can’t wait to see what makes the cut.
In the meantime, though, we’re gonna hope for some of our favorite Emei songs to make the tracklist! Her recent single ‘That Girl’ has stayed in our minds rent-free since we first heard it, and her previous hit ‘Better People To Leave On Read,’ which has gotten over a million streams on its own, definitely deserves a spot. We’d have trust issues if she didn’t include the bop that is ‘Trust Issues,’ too! So many amazing songs to choose from…
