As you know, we at The Honey POP love Death Cab For Cutie. They’ve been killing it over the span of two decades. How many bands can say that? And their most recent album, Asphalt Meadows, released last year, was no exception. You can read our review of it here.
Death Cab recently announced that they’ll be releasing an acoustic version of the album on March 10 via Atlantic Records. You can pre-save the album here.
In addition to their announcement, they also released the acoustic version of ‘Pepper!’ We absolutely loved the original version with its laid-back vibe. But the acoustic version deserves recognition too. Evidently, with it being acoustic, it has a softer sound, yet there’s still enough of a difference to definitely justify this version. You can listen to it below.
If that wasn’t enough, they also released a beautiful and touching cover of Low’s ‘The Plan’ as a tribute to Mimi Parker.
Listen to Death Cab’s cover of ‘The Plan,’ as well as the original by Low, below.
Will we get to hear some of the acoustic versions live? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s by seeing them on tour! They’re doing a short run across the US in February and international tours in March and June, all before going on the most anticipated fall tour: a co-headline with The Postal Service! This tour will commemorate the 20th anniversary of their album, Transatlanticism, and The Postal Service’s Give Up. You can find dates and tickets for all of their shows here.
What do you think of their newly released songs so far? What song off of Asphalt Meadows are you excited to hear the acoustic version of? Let us know by tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP!
