Far from feeling like drowning, we at THP were beyond stoked to catch Jessie Murph at Baby’s All Right in NYC. Full of hits classic and new, Jessie reinvigorated the packed crowd, on a tour that had sold-out date after date. After all, there’s nothing like a pop fix with an Alabama flair that keeps us coming back for more.
Standout moments of the night include the live rendition of ‘Pray’ and ‘If I Died Last Night’ with a pairing of vulnerable lyricism and acoustic backing as Jessie Murph engaged their audience. Throughout the range of personal and often vulnerable themes across their sound, including love and its complexities, our emotions intertwined with the distinct soulful voice that sets Jessie Murph apart. Honey Poppers, if you’re feeling a bout of seasonal blues this season – this is the artist you need to listen to.
Jessie Murph is far from your traditional pop artist. Following the release of smash debut album drowning in February of this year, the singer-songwriter effortlessly pairs vulnerability with simple instrumentation – which not only leaves songs pulling at your heart, we can’t help but be moved. If you’re open to the likes of DWLLRS and Maggie Rogers, we highly recommend Jessie Murph.
And trust us, with an effortless balance of striking themes of love, relationships and loss with simplistic sound – Jessie Murph nails capturing the complex emotions of love, life and reflection with an effortless, well rounded sound. All factors that keep her at the top of our playlist!
To show this incredibly talented artist even more love, we’ve listed our go-to tracks here. And since we’re feeling it here at THP, that means you are going to as well.
