Binge-Worthy Buzz: Be Our Guest In A Binge-Watching Session

binge worthy buzz

Hello there, honeybees, and welcome to this week’s Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we give you a list of new recommendations of what to watch next. From the comfort of your home via a streaming service, to the classic trip to the movie theater with your friends, what are you picking? Shall we begin?

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

The long awaited D&D movie is finally here! The premiere of Honor Among Thieves happened at this year’s SXSW Festival and things are looking great. The entire cast was there for the premiere, and they seem to have enjoyed the experience as much as any other member of the audience. But in case you hadn’t heard of it or aren’t familiar with the plot of the movie, let us break it down for you ahead of it hitting cinemas on March 31st!

If you’ve watched any episode of Stranger Things you know that D&D has been around for a while now and seeing its magical setting gain a version on the big screen is a delight and a win for us, nerds, everywhere. In this movie, we meet a band of adventurers who go after a lost relic, but leave a bad impression on the wrong people which gets them into a lot of trouble. But just like in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, we’re hoping they’ll make it to the end of their journey safe.

Mickey Mouse & Friends 10 Classic Shorts – Volume 2

Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and all their friends have been a huge part of our lives for literally over a century now, and what better way to celebrate that than with Disney’s latest collection of their classic shorts? Volume 1 of Mickey Mouse and Friends 10 Classic Shorts was such a hit that now they’re doing a second volume with 10 new shorts, featuring our favorite characters from our childhoods.

Volume 2 of this wonderful and nostalgic compilation includes the classic The Band Concert (featured below), along with some other hilarious stories like the time Pluto has an issue with a sweater, and many others. The digital version of the Classic Shorts arrives on April 4 and the Blu-ray and DVD version on June 27. And if that’s not enough, let us tell you that along with the shorts we also have new animated introductions featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto watching a slideshow of their past adventures.

Boston Strangler

Has anyone here heard of the Boston Strangler case? If not, this movie might be a good place to start. If you’re into crime stories that is, otherwise, you might want to skip this one! The movie set in the 60s tells the true story of two journalists who broke the story of the serial killer known as the Boston Strangler. But what makes this story so special, you may ask?

The amazing thing about this story is that the two journalists in question are two women, Loretta McLaughlin and Jean Cole, who put themselves in danger to bring the story of the Boston Strangler to light, while also having to work around the blatant sexism of the time in order to be taken seriously at all. In the end, it does pay off, and their story sheds light onto one of the biggest mysteries of the 1960s. The movie premieres on Hulu on March 17, and you know your Binge Worthy Buzz besties are going to be all over this one!

Bad Therapy

In Bad Therapy, Alicia Silverstone and Rob Corddry are Susan and Bob, a married couple struggling with their relationship. In an effort to fix things, they decide to start attending couples’ therapy with marriage counselor Judy Small.

The only problem is that Judy has some… let’s say, dark impulses that end up impacting the couple in a negative way, bringing their marriage to a breaking point. The movie, originally released in 2022, is currently available on Hulu.

The Lesson is Murder

True crime babes, gather around! The Lesson is Murder is a new docuseries about to drop on Hulu that follows an ex-FBI agent named Dr. Bryanna Fox as she teaches a class on psychological criminology to graduate students. During the classes, they study convicted criminals, their personalities, and developing psychological profiles.

Each episode shows interviews with witnesses, police officers, and families of the victims, in order to gain an understanding of the minds of these serial offenders and maybe get closer to an answer to the age-old question “why does a killer kill?” The series starts streaming on Hulu on March 23.

Official Competition

You know that if Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz are in the cast, the movie is going to be good, and Official Competition is here to prove it. The Spanish-Argentine movie brings us Humberto Suárez, an aging millionaire who decides he wants to make a movie so people will remember him fondly. For the movie, he brings a reclusive director, played by Penélope Cruz, who won a Palme d’Or prize, but isn’t too fond of being around other people.

Now, in front of the cameras, the millionaire has two actors playing brothers, one of them is a method actor known for his work on stages, Iván Torres; and a classic Hollywood actor, Félix Rivero, played by Antonio Banderas. The fight of egos between the eccentric director, the rich financier of the movie and the self-centered actors make for one heck of an entertaining ride for us all. That’s why we’ll be sure to watch the movie now that it’s available on Hulu.

Congratulations, you’ve reached the end of another edition of Binge-Worthy Buzz! We hope you’ve enjoyed our list as much as we enjoyed writing it, and if you did, tell us about it. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
