Our favorite British indie-rock band just released a music video for their new song. Yes! We are talking about Lovejoy’s new music video for ‘Portrait Of A Blank Slate.’ This is the intro track for their latest EP, Wake Up & It’s Over which was released last month. In case you missed it, we made a Minecraft-themed personality quiz based on each song of the album!
Lovejoy’s music videos are known for being unique and theatrical. And this music video directed by Ted Nivision is no exception. You can watch the video below.
Now Let’s Talk About It
We love the video’s old-time aesthetic. Black and white not only fits the aesthetic but also fits the theme of being “boring.” Just as both the song and now the music video demonstrates, it couldn’t be more of a contradiction.
Most music videos just feature the artist performing the song, which we’re all for. It’s a tried-and-true method. But, this is Lovejoy we’re talking about. So of course, they’re going to do something completely outside the box. Yes, they’ll perform the song, but first, it’s going to start out like a silent movie and establish that a scientific experiment is about to happen.
They study his brain throughout the song and it gets increasingly more intense. By the end of the video, his brain catches on fire. And honestly? We don’t blame him. The song goes hard. And assuming it’s not modern day, having someone from that era listen to a banger like ‘Portrait Of A Blank Slate,’ is essentially the equivalent of giving a small Victorian child nacho-flavored Doritos. It’s definitely on brand for them and we were thoroughly entertained.
So, what do you think of this mind-blowing music video? (Sorry, we had to.) Let us know in the comments, on Facebook, Instagram, or by tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP!
