Ariana Grande has proven over and over that she’s a music legend – not just in the U.S., but on an international level. And you don’t have to uncover any hidden proof, because the fact that some of our favorite K-Pop idols have covered Ariana’s songs shows just what an impactful artist she is! To celebrate Ari’s impact on both fans and the music industry itself, we’re rounding up a few of our fave covers from Korean artists.
Ailee – ‘Problem’
If you’ve been a K-Pop fan for a while, you probably remember what a cultural moment this Ailee cover was back in 2014! The power in her voice while singing ‘Problem’ was absolutely unmatched, and we can’t think of a better way to kick off this list. We might have 99 problems, but this version of ‘Problem’ could solve at least most of them.
LE SSERAFIM CHAEWON – ‘pov’
We usually get more edgy vibes from LE SSERAFIM, so you could imagine how excited we were to hear CHAEWON put her own spin on a softer track like ‘pov!’ Her voice channeled the vulnerability in the lyrics so well, making this one of our all-time favorite LSF covers and one of our all-time favorite Ariana covers.
NCT DOYOUNG – ‘breathin’
Anyone who’s tried singing ‘breathin,’ even if it’s just singing along in your room, knows how hard it can be to sustain your voice with all those stunning runs and high notes. But DOYOUNG made it look so easy with his cover! He went for a piano instrumental to let the lyrics and his voice be the main focus, and the results were nothing short of breath-taking.
STAYC Sieun – ‘Break Free’
If you’re gonna successfully cover a song as iconic as ‘Break Free,’ you need to bring a cool energy and fierce confidence. And that’s exactly what Sieun did with this cover clip! She captured the song’s vibes so well and absolutely blew us away with those harmony backing vocals. STAYC girls, it’s going down in history!
