Demi Lovato Takes A Stand In Reproductive Health Rights With Their Latest Single ‘SWINE’

It’s been a hot minute since Demi Lovato composed and released a song that tackles struggles that have important meanings. Now, they are back with one that talks about one of the most pervasive issues among women’s rights – reproductive health. Demi Lovato is back with ‘SWINE’, which talks about reproductive health rights, and its message is everything we believe and stand for! ‘SWINE’ has a significant meaning; its release coincides with the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision to abolish the constitutional right to abortion in the United States. Since then, safe abortions have become inaccessible to millions of women, trans men, and nonbinary people in the US.

I want this song to empower not only the birthing people of this country, but everyone who stands up for equality, to embrace their agency and fight for a world where every person’s right to make decisions about their own body is honored.

Demi Lovato on her Instagram post

Demi Lovato is openly taking a stand by supporting and empowering people who want equal rights to abortion through ‘SWINE!’ In their latest post on Instagram, Demi firmly voices their stance in people’s battle for reproductive justice. Moreover, they are looking criminally gorgeous and rebellious in their post, which is a clip of the ‘SWINE’ music video. We all know that Demi started out in Disney’s Camp Rock, where they showed off their fun, sweet, and innocent persona. They were iconic for it! In ‘SWINE’ MV, the 30-year-old singer-actress sported a black-smokey eye makeup look, conveying their gradual shift to punk-rock music and style. Demi is absolutely killing their new-found style, and they looked authentic more than ever!

‘SWINE’s lyrics are raw and powerful! Its verses mirror the struggles of women in the discussion of abortion rights. The vibe of the song is giving “we need you to listen”! Like their recently-released rock versions of ‘Heart Attack’ and ‘Cool for the Summer,’ ‘SWINE’ manifested Demi’s rock-star persona! With that, we listed some of our favorite lyrics that are just giving empowerment!

“My life, my voice // My rights, my choice // It’s mine or I’m just a swine”

Demi made sure to create a message that unapologetically captures what women are thinking and going through in terms of their own reproductive health needs. We think that we should try to be more open to the idea that women have rights and choices with their own bodies. Reproductive health discussions should be more open!

Undercompensated, too domesticated // Underestimated, overregulated // Undercelebrated, hated, dominated

Demi really speaks for the women! The message of these lyrics can be a hard pill to swallow for some. There are struggles that only women, trans men, and nonbinary people are going through, and they are the only ones who can understand them for themselves. It can be a cruel world out there for them.

The Camp Rock star plans to donate ‘SWINE’s one-year net profit to the Reproductive Justice Fund at the Demi Lovato Foundation. Then, it will be distributed to three charitable organizations: NARAL Pro-Choice America, Plan C, and The National Network of Abortion Funds. Absolutely powerful!
