Imagining Music Videos For These 5 Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) Songs

Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift… where do we even start? How do we introduce the music industry herself? Take a look at this beautiful picture of Taylor while we think of a way.

Saying that Taylor Swift is an American singer/songwriter would be quite an understatement. Starting off her career with her debut in 2006 with Taylor Swift, Taylor is one of the few artists to successfully transition from country to pop with her album Red. Starting in 2021, Taylor has been releasing rerecords of her previous albums in order to own them (we don’t really need to dive into the drama, we’re sure you already know it all). Currently, she owns Lover, folklore, evermore, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), and Midnights. Taylor recently released another rerecord, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), on July 7, 2023 which you can listen to here!

The release of Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) has brought some nostalgia with it as well as six From The Vault songs. Sadly, we only have one music video for ‘I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ which you can watch here. So instead of crying about it, we decided to take matters into our own hands and imagine music videos for the following songs:

‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’

You all already know where we are going with this. We mean, we didn’t all imagine the same music video, right? It has to be a Glitch (Swifties Version) in the simulation (get it? Haha. ‘Glitch (Taylor’s Version)’). But seriously, we need the ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)‘ music video to be a reality, not just a collective hallucination. We need Taylor in a purple dress with her signature Speak Now era ponytail, peaking out from a pillar as she looks onto the almost-wedding. Imagine someone like Dylan O’Brien cast as the groom and watching him and Taylor run away from the church, hand-in-hand, as the bride and guests are (silently) shouting at them in the background.

“Baby, I didn’t say my vows / So glad you were around / When they said, ‘Speak now‘”

‘Long Live (Taylor’s Version)’

The song makes us all emotional and cry. Remember when she introduced ‘Long Live (Taylor’s Version)‘ to her setlist for The Eras Tour?

Imagine how good a music video for this song would be. Videos of fans at her concerts, videos of Taylor interacting with fans directly, videos of Taylor performing for huge crowds as she dances and smiles throughout her career, and the one part during The Eras Tour where we point to Taylor and she points at us as she sings “I had the time of my life with you.” We already always have the time of our lives because we exist in The World (Taylor’s Version). But this music video may just make The World (Taylor’s Version) much, much better.

“I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you / And long, long live the look on your face / And bring on all the pretenders / One day, we will be remembered”

‘Long Live (Taylor’s Version)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) – Taylor Swift

‘Haunted (Taylor’s Version)’

Picture this for the ‘Haunted (Taylor’s Version)‘ music video: Taylor Swift in a pale purple gown with her curly long Speak Now era hair in the middle of a barren forest, seemingly looking for someone. She turns to look at the dark silhouettes moving across the screen between the trees as she continues walking down the makeshift trail. Give the song title a literal meaning/aspect in the music video. And then comes the bridge, where the music takes an instrumental turn and Taylor thinks she finally found the person as she walks up to a dark silhouette, facing away from her. But just as the music begins to build up again, she gets surrounded by several of the dark shadows and she has to run away from them as the song goes on. She literally cannot go back because she is being h(a)unted.

Then, as the outro begins, Taylor sees another silhouette standing at the edge of the forest which actually looks like a non-shadow. She approaches the silhouette, now sure that it is the person she is looking for. But he fades into dust as she almost touches his shoulder as she begins to sing the final lyrics, “Never thought I’d see it,” and we watch the dust fly off towards the sky before the screen goes black. We can see this music video crystal clear.

“Come on, come on, don’t leave me like this / I thought I had you figured out / Can’t breathe whenever you’re gone / Can’t go back, I’m haunted”

‘Haunted (Taylor’s Version)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) – Taylor Swift

‘When Emma Falls In Love (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’

When Emma Falls In Love (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)‘ makes our hearts melt but we think the music video would result in our entire bodies as puddles. Start it off with “Emma” in her room, closing the blinds, and talking to her mom on the phone as she gets ready for a date during the first verse. Cut to a montage of “Emma” meeting her date as the chorus kicks in and the date being in absolute awe at the sight of her. How do we feel about a planetarium date montage with “Emma” looking entirely in love during the second verse as Taylor sings “When Emma falls in love, it’s all on her face / Hangs in the air like stars in outer space”? Ugh, just imagining the visuals of this date has us screaming.

The scene then cuts to “Emma” and her date arguing mid-second verse in one of their homes and it ends with her date walking out of the house, slamming the door behind him. “Emma” collapses on the couch, her face buried in her palms as she cries and the bridge goes on. But then her date walks back in after a time skip and hugs her as Taylor gets to singing, “Now he’ll be her shelter when it rains.” And then transition to her date standing in a tux during “…his whole world’s about to change.” Then, we watch “Emma” walk down the aisle, in a gorgeous, gorgeous white dress and a purple flower bouquet in her hands as an ode to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). A picture-perfect kiss occurs as Taylor sings, “Sometimes I wish I was her,” before the camera pans towards the guests and we see Taylor on screen, sitting on the bride’s side as she smiles at the sight of the newly-wed couple as the last lyric is sung. The screen fades to black as the music fades out.

About the casting, would it be too on-the-nose to cast Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield for this music video? We hope not.

“And she’s the kind of book that you can’t put down / Like if Cleopatra grew up in a small town / And all the bad boys would be good boys / If they only had a chance to love her”

‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’

Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)‘ would have the best music video ever! Argue with the wall. Taylor, please, please, please, please, please make this music video happen. But anyways, are you ready for this? Let’s get into it.

“And school lovers laughin’ on the porch of their first house / The kinda love that you only find once in a lifetime / The kind you don’t put down”

‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) -Taylor Swift

Picture present Taylor walking into an antique shop and stumbling on a black-and-white picture of two lovers laughing on the front porch, just as she describes in the song. The camera zooms in and we enter the world of the picture. On the front porch, we see 30s Taylor and her “partner”, laughing in black-and-white because “...in those photos, I saw us instead.”

“On a crowded street in 1944 / And you were headed off to fight in the war / You still would’ve been mine / We would have been timeless”

‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) -Taylor Swift

We then get a close-up view of 30s Taylor turning around and it fades into a different scene where 40s Taylor is crying, hugging her “partner” goodbye as he heads off to war. He leaves with a goodbye kiss and next, we see Taylor in her home, reading a love letter from her “partner” who is still at war. She places the letter on her lap before she joins her hands together and looks up at the ceiling with her eyes closed and we hear her whisper, “Please let him be okay.” Cut to 40s Taylor reuniting her “partner,” running towards him and he spins her around after she jumps into his arms.

“I had to smile when it caught my eye / There was one of a teenage couple in the driveway / Holdin’ hands on the way to a dance / And the date on the back said 1958”

The camera pans to the window as her “partner” continues to spin her around and zooms in to show us a 50s teenage Taylor and her “partner” driving down the road in a car. And then the camera zooms out to the window and are we seeing 40s Taylor? No! We are back to current Taylor in the antique shop as she dreamily looks out the window before placing the picture of the teenage couple down and then walking further into the shop, only to stumble on a cobweb-covered book.

“In the 1500s off in a foreign land / And I was forced to marry another man / You still would’ve been mine / We would have been timeless”

‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) -Taylor Swift

You have already guessed where we’re going next, right? To the 1500s! To watch a 1500s Taylor run away from home to marry her “partner” (this part of ‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ gives us similar vibes to the ‘Love Story’ music video).

“I’m gonna love you when our hair is turnin’ gray / We’ll have a cardboard box of photos of the life we’ve made”

‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) -Taylor Swift

Next, the scene transitions to an old Taylor and her “partner” in the future when their “… hair is turning grey,” sitting on the couch of their home as they look through (current time) pictures of themselves in a box (yes, the partner will say the “Oh my, we really were timeless” out loud). A picture of them laughing in front of the very house they are in currently is shown, followed by a picture of them in the first car they bought, and a picture of their wedding. Finally, future Taylor removes a picture of the antique shop from the beginning of the song. We watch a closeup on her hand tracing the picture before diving into the picture. We see a current Taylor walking past the antique shop and pausing for a moment as she looks at the antique shop in consideration. She walks into the shop as the music fades off and we hear a bell of the door opening.

“Down the block, there’s an antique shop / And somethin’ in my head said, “Stop, ” so I walked in”

‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) -Taylor Swift

Would we be tooting our own horn if we say this music video would be perfection? Yes? Oh well, can you blame us? This song is a fan favorite, and our fav, for a reason. You can read more about why we think ‘Timeless (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ is one of Taylor Swift’s best songs here!
