This year music has proven to have no rules or limits, being an excellent reference to the alternative and the different. What can we tell you? The fact that pop punk is back, and we have more and more alt-emo artists dominating cannot be a coincidence. And now ‘Pop Punk,’ the new release from BIGONE, Dive, and Dohanse, has well and truly put its namesake genre firmly on our playlist. With this fantastic collab mixed with some other ingredients, it seems a revolution is closer than we thought. So bring some eyeliner and black varnish, and get ready for ‘Pop Punk.’
It Was Never a Phase!
Baggy jeans, ripped shirts, messed-up hairstyles, and limitless music are just some of the ingredients that make this song, and its genre, so nostalgic. A vanished love, some old memories, the feeling of loss, that the world goes on, but you are alone. Just love, the emotion that makes your heart “like a guitar string.”
‘Pop Punk’ transports us perfectly to summer and young love; breaking stigmas, doing what you want, forgetting what hurts, and just being yourself. In fact, that recipe could really a basis of the pop punk genre. BIGONE once again demonstrates its ability to create masterpieces full of euphoria, playfulness, and authenticity.
We absolutely have to give a spotlight to Dive, the mastermind behind Heart Emoji, who has once again shown us that everything still suits him. He gives us a masterclass on how he was born to give life to the great rap lines of his songs, and ‘Pop Punk’ is absolutely no exception.
Dohanse was being serious when he said he was ready to take it over! He is definitely the essence of pop punk himself; he inspires us to follow our dreams, not to give in to pressure, and to stay true to ourselves. This song just suits him so well.
‘Cause They Are Our Pop Punk!
How to define something that in itself exists in order to break the normalized? We can simply say that we love every part of it. We have this and many incredible songs from the alt-scene in our new playlist.
