‘Give It Up’ For These New Meet Me @ The Altar, Teenage Wrist, & Holding Absence Tracks!

There is new music galore and you know that we’re ready to share. We’ve seen an uptick in pop punk/alternative tracks coming our way so we’ve had a whole catalog of new music to share with you. Today, we’re diving into some new faves from Meet Me @ The Altar, Teenage Wrist & Holding Absence so keep on reading and let us know which one ends up being your fave! (All 3 of them is an acceptable answer!)

Meet Me @ The Altar – ‘Give It Up’

Meet Me @ The Altar is a favorite band of ours here at THP HQ. We love them so much we literally own a physical CD copy of their latest album Past // Present // Future! If that’s not enough to convince you to check them out maybe their latest track ‘Give It Up’ will be. You can stream ‘Give It Up’ here. To sum it up, ‘Give It Up’ is a song about frustration and needing to ask for help sometimes.

‘I know you got answers so pass them right on out … why can’t you help me out? Give it up, give it up, give it up’

‘Give It Up’ is angsty, it’s upbeat, and it perfectly captures that feeling of being pulled in a million different directions while trying to figure things out. You could be screaming for help and that’s okay. Sometimes you need someone to help guide you and find the answers. If you’re wondering why this track didn’t make Past // Present // Future it’s because MM@TA wanted to explore this side of their sound on the deluxe version of the album. Get your hands on it on September 29th. If you just can’t wait for more MM@TA grab tickets to catch them on tour with our faves 5SOS starting August 10th.

Teenage Wrist – ‘Dark Sky’

We have quite an iconic collaboration to share with you too. Teenage Wrist recently dropped their track ‘Dark Sky’ featuring S.A Martinez from 311, whom the band toured with during the summer of last year. It was a “life-changing” experience for the band and for frontman Marshall Gallagher in particular.

We toured with 311 in the summer of 2022, and it was nothing short of life changing for me … I’ve been a diehard fan since I can remember discovering music on my own. S.A.’s voice was the first thing I heard after peeling off the plastic on the ‘Blue’ album CD and popping it in my friend’s home stereo circa 1998 … Not only did S.A. destroy this performance, but the lyrics were 100% on point in keeping with his iconic style. A truly mind-blowing experience in Wrist history.

We can’t even imagine how exciting and mind-blowing getting to work with an artist you look up to like that is. That would be like THP collaborating with someone like Fall Out Boy or Harry Styles for an article. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime life-changing moment. And ‘Dark Sky’ is as amazing as you would expect with a team-up like this! Be sure to stream it here!

Holding Absence – ‘Scissors’

Holding Absence needs to make their way onto your radar if they aren’t already. They dropped a lyric video for ‘Scissors,’ the fourth single from their new album The Noble Art Of Self Destruction, which you can stream here. And don’t forget to pre-save the album which is out August 25th.

This song is a love letter to our favorite genre, which is post-hardcore. It’sh eavy, catchy, and emotional.”We can’t wait for you guys to hear this one, as we step ever-closer to releasing the whole album next month

Lucas Woodland via press release

We love a good post-hardcore track and ‘Scissors’ definitely delivers. The narrative revolves around self-sacrifice in the pursuit of self-growth. Sometimes it takes “a dull pair of scissors” to cut away the poisonous parts and become a better version of yourself. That’s what this song hones in on. ‘Scissors’ has us stoked to hear the rest of the album and August 25th feels so far away.
