All of you early 2000s kids who grew up in the era of Freaky Friday and 2000s punk/pop-punk will really love this track we’re sharing with you. Our faves Meet Me @ The Altar dropped a cover of ‘Take Me Away,’ the iconic Freaky Friday track, and it goes hard. The second we hit play on this cover, we were singing along instantly, and Meet Me @ The Altar absolutely killed it.
Aside from it just being an absolutely iconic moment in pop culture, ‘Take Me Away,’ Pink Slip, and Freaky Friday as a whole had a lot of influence over us growing up. It’s everything we love all meshed into one – female representation in punk music, and on screen! Being able to pay homage to such an endless well of inspiration to us was really gratifying. It really takes you back to an era that I think we all miss.
MM@TA via press release
MM@TA is so real for that and their ‘Take Me Away’ cover 100% did the original justice in our opinion. We love seeing them pay homage to the song and the movie that had such a huge influence on so many of us. Meet Me @ The Altar just continues to prove that no one is doing it quite like them. They’re one of our favorite bands on the scene right now and this cover is just another reason we love them so much.
