‘unhappier’ is a breakup song full of gorgeous riffs that match beautifully with laye’s delicate vocals and authentic lyrics. A lot of breakup songs are about missing the person as well as maybe still being in love with them, or they’re about hating the person and being glad to be rid of them. ‘unhappier’ falls in between, and we absolutely adore that.
‘unhappier’ is a breakup song written from the perspective of someone who really doesn’t wish that person well. At the root of it, though, it’s still a love song. You love that person so much that you can’t yet wish them well.

We’re sure a lot of people will be able to relate to that feeling. Still being in love with someone and not quite being able to detach away enough yet to wish they do well.
