A pretty perfect prequel has landed in our laps, this time in the form of DPR IAN’s Dear Insanity... EP. The incredibly talented songwriter and producer has released another masterpiece, and of course, it is highly conceptual. This one is a prequel to his previous albums and the character of ‘MITO’ with Mr. Insanity. If there is one thing you can come to expect from his material and music, it’s that there is no shortage of creativity and originality.

The Music Videos
We recently did a deep dive into the DPRICU (DPR IAN Cinematic Universe, anyone?) in anticipation of this new project. To learn more about the visual masterpieces he creates featuring two tracks from this EP, you can read about them here!
He has already released music videos for ‘Peanut Butter & Tears’ and ‘So I Danced’, so we are familiar with the concepts for those tracks. These two videos are in his signature whimsical style and are closer to western-meets-sci-fi movies than your traditional music videos. The music video that dropped today is for ‘Don’t Go Insane.’ The song features synth and funk beats with a fun bass lick and other sounds that make his music much more fascinating.
An Epic Introduction
We begin the album with ‘Famous Last Words’, a hauntingly good narration that is a letter from Ian to Mr. Insanity. This is followed by a beat composed of a menagerie of sounds including electric guitars, string instruments, flutes, and even rainforest sounds. If there is another way to open an EP, we do not want to know! This is the standard we are going to accept from now on.
Our first new track, ‘ Welcome To The Other Side,’ fuses synth wave-inspired beats and grand classical instruments similar to those in ballads. Other new tracks include ‘Bad Cold’ and ‘Violet Crazy.’
