If you’re anything like us, then we know you’re hooked on HYBE x Geffen Records’ The Debut: Dream Academy. The global search to put together the next big girl group has been keeping us on the edge of our seats, and we’re already on Mission #3!
We began with 20 incredibly talented trainees, and the recent elimination saw us say goodbye to three more of them: UA, Nayoung, and Celeste.
Following on from the LE SSERAFIM theme of Mission #2, the latest mission featured some of our favorite empowerment anthems! Split into three teams, the girls performed ‘Buttons’ by the Pussycat Dolls, ‘Confident’ by Demi Lovato, and ‘Wannabe’ by the Spice Girls.
They absolutely smashed it, but the performances did get us thinking… we love an empowerment anthem here at THP. So, what other songs would we love to see the Dream Academy trainees take on? Here are three of them!
‘God Is A Woman’ – Ariana Grande
The aesthetic, the vocals, literally everything about this cover would be elite-tier. ‘God Is A Woman’ feels totally aligned with the style the Dream Academy trainees seem to be heading toward, but the performance would still show a new side of them, too!
‘Basics’ – TWICE
We love a cute moment! We’ve seen the Dream Academy girls be fierce and ‘ANTIFRAGILE,’ but we’d love to see how they adapt to a cuter concept, too!
‘Power’ – Little Mix
The trainees on Dream Academy may have covered two of the biggest girlbands ever, but we’d still love to see them take on a Little Mix track! ‘Power’ perfectly fits the trainees’ energy, and we’d love to see them tackle this one.
What’s Next?
Following Mission #3’s elimination, we have our top ten! We’ve come so far already! The finalists are: Daniela, Lara, Megan, Manon, Sophia, Ezrela, Marquise, Yoonchae, Emily, and Samara. Next up, we will see them battle it out for a debut spot in the live final on November 17th! We don’t think we can handle the wait, TBH…
