We’d like to think we’ve been pretty vocal about our love for Broadside but just in case we haven’t: THP LOVES BROADSIDE!!!! Seriously, this band is so talented and full of some awesome dudes, and we get so stoked whenever we get a chance to share them with you. We’ve been waiting for the release of their new album Hotel Bleu ever since it was announced and it’s finally here! All of the singles, like ‘Bang‘ and ‘Cruel,’ were nothing short of amazing and Hotel Bleu in its entirety absolutely blew (bleu? haha) us away.
Go ahead and stream Hotel Bleu while you read about some of our favorite tracks from the album now that we’ve had a chance to hear all of them.
‘Stranger’
Holy sh*t. That’s all we can really say about the opening track ‘Stranger.’ Well, that’s not ALL we can say, but we just had to say it. Those opening notes hit and we were done for simply. ‘Stranger’ feels like the definition of anthemic and soaring and the vocals? *Chef’s kiss* as always. This song feels like Broadside at its core while fitting into the Hotel Bleu concept, telling a different story with each “room.”
‘Dazed & Confused’
We’re kind of super jealous of everyone who heard this one live on tour already. Oh yeah, Broadside is on tour with This Wild Life right now so you should grab tickets for that. But back to the track. We love a good a** shaking track and this totally fits the bill. We’re literally dancing and headbanging along as we’re writing this so that tells you everything you need to know really.
“On tour, there’s nothing like a hotel,” … “Whether you have the most amazing or worst show of your life, the best part of the evening is getting a good night’s sleep once all of the endorphins run down. In terms of the concept for Hotel Bleu, every room is a different headspace. All of the songs are separate stories in this one place. They’re open for interpretation, but there’s a song for every type of person.”

‘Feel Love’
One of the things we love the most about Hotel Bleu is how Broadside explored a wide range of sounds on every track. Each track has a unique sound and they flow together cohesively to form the album. That’s the idea of the album; a hotel with different rooms full of different people and different stories. ‘Feel Love’ is one of our favorites. It’s catchy and has us dancing along for the entire duration. We also love the lyrics and are enjoying singing along while shaking a**. Sure, it sounds different from what you might expect from a Broadside track, but it’s nothing short of amazing. We have a feeling this is going to be one of our on-repeat tracks, think we can get it to make our Spotify Wrapped?
‘Bleu’
We had to mention the title track but we think Ollie describes it better than we can because of how personal it is:
“I wrote it for my fiancée,” … “There’s been a song for her on every album. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was going through chemo. I was sitting with her every day. It was fucking with my head that I had tours coming up. I had already missed one of her appointments because I was on the road. Real life was happening. She had a double mastectomy, and the cancer was removed right before her 29th birthday. The lyrics are about the process of watching her going through this. I just hope the song connects.”
‘Bleu’ is such a beautiful and powerful track and our hearts go out to Ollie and Sara whenever we hear it.
Broadside really said we’re about to drop one of the best albums of 2023 in November and that isn’t an exaggeration. Hotel Bleu is absolutely going to be ranked as one of our favorite releases of this year, as it should be, and we have a feeling you’ll agree with us.
