These 3 Alec Benjamin Songs Feel Like Therapy

We’ve been loving everything Alec Benjamin is doing lately so you know we had to listen to his new track ‘I Sent My Therapist To Therapy’ as soon as it was released! In honor of it finally coming out we chose three of our favorite songs by Alec that feel like therapy to us to share with you.

‘I Sent My Therapist To Therapy’

This is Alec’s most recent release and if you’ve been following him on TikTok this track is already familiar to you. We were so excited when we got a release date for this song and the wait was definitely worth it. Alec sings “I’m so messed up, I sent my therapist to therapy. I tell you what, I’m sorry, but I thought I’d never see a case as bad as yours, don’t think I have a remedy. Think he needs help now, oh, the irony” Which honestly feels like the therapy visit we have nightmares about but that just gives it a special relatability.

‘Six Feet Apart’

If you were a fan of Alec’s during quarantine, chances are you had this song on repeat. We’ve definitely had a cry or two to this song but surely after listening you’d understand. Alec tackles the feelings and struggles we all felt during 2020 with lyrics like “Because right now I feel so alone. I’ve been missing the elements and wishing the elephant in the room would kindly close the door. I can’t ignore him like before, not anymore.” It’s a beautiful track and it deserves more spotlight even though we’re no longer in isolation.

‘Mind Is A Prison’

This song deserves its own article just because of how intricate the lyrics are but we’ll do our best to give it justice here. ‘Mind Is A Prison’ is another mental health inspired track, mainly focusing on how Alec physically exists in his body but feels trapped inside his mind. In the chorus, he describes a prison break as a metaphor for trying to get out of his head but is unable to as he sings “Guess my mind is a prison and I’m never gonna get out.” We love this track because even behind all the metaphors used it’s just Alec’s raw feelings.

Alec has so many songs that tackle mental health but these three just stand out to us. He never misses the mark and we’re so grateful he chooses to be vulnerable like this in his music.
