The Snuts are back! Their third album, Millennials, will be available for us to enjoy on February 23. If that sounds like way too long to wait, try to ease the pain with the five songs we have so far. Most recently, we’ve been obsessed with ‘Millionaires’ by The Snuts. We’ve also been obsessed with figuring out how the five songs go together. The Snuts have released a complete tracklist, but until we have the rest of the story, we’ve decided to make our own.
‘Deep Diving’
Kicking off this narrative is ‘Deep Diving.’ This song feels like the start of a movie before the inciting incident has happened. It’s the calm before the storm. This story begins with our main character drinking in his kitchen. He’s deep-diving into his feels, just like we all do when we need a change in our lives. The song itself feels like a denial of the feelings that he’s covering up by “smiling on the surface.” Like maybe if he keeps the song upbeat, the feelings won’t drown him.
‘Dreams’
The Snuts have resurfaced after their dive into their feelings, and they’ve met someone! Maybe you’re thinking ‘Dreams’ takes place further into a relationship. After all, admissions of love and declarations that “it’s meant to be” are pretty dramatic for just having met someone. Our argument is that this is a man who is obsessed with the little things, like breakfast in bed. Our character can hardly believe the situation he’s in. He wouldn’t have seen this relationship in his wildest dreams. This is the part of the honeymoon phase where he’s imagining the rest of their lives together.
‘Gloria’
Now he is more used to the relationship. He’s reminiscing on their first meeting in Tesco. He remembers when Gloria was a mystery to him. When she was just a part of his ‘dreams,’ if you will. Now he knows everything about her and loves her even more.
‘NPC’
Even with a loving relationship, life is far from perfect in this story. Our character is caught in Netflix and daydreams. He longs for a life inside his dream machine, where he’s free to stay in bed. But in this one, he asks, “Why won’t you come along?” We’ve decided that he’s asking his mysterious love, Gloria.
‘Millionaires’
It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for! ‘Millionaires’ is The Snuts’ latest release and also the one that pulls this story together. After ‘NPC,’ our main character knows the reality of the struggles he has to face. He’s staying positive, though! He’s focusing on what brings him joy in life. He may not have won the lottery or made seven figures, but he has what really matters: love.
