The Music Industry Belongs to Women. Here’s Proof!

Here at The Honey POP, we have one rule. We obsess over strong women in music! So, as you can guess, it’s been a great week for us. Women have dominated the charts recently, and we’re here to discuss them all!

Ariana Grande

Ari is back! And she’s responding to her haters. She’s living her best life, and we are so proud of her! We have a feeling the ‘yes, and?’ music video shows the reality of everyone trying to keep up their hater image. No one can resist the charm of this song. Everyone is dancing in the end. It seems like everyone can agree ‘yes, and?’ goes hard, seeing that it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, as well as Spotify and Apple.

Millie Turner

Millie Turner is taking us on a trip to space with ‘Venus.’ Yes, that is a pun about the name of the song. Truly, though, this song makes us feel like we’re floating, and we might as well be in space. She’s right up there with us, looking for Venus, which holds the beauties and horrors of femininity.

Charlotte Sands

We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time. Our pop/rock queen released her debut album, can we start over? And let us tell you, it was worth the wait. The dreamlike sound of the title track is enough to keep us starting this album over again and again. It also features some of her most ambitious lyrics yet, letting her rage shine through in tracks like ‘use me’ and ‘spite.’ With this album finally in our hands, we can’t wait to live in the year of Charlotte Sands.

FLETCHER

The theme here is that these girls are at their best right now. With the second song from FLETCHER’s second album, In Search of the Antidote, ‘Lead Me On,’ this era is shaping up to be her best yet. And that’s a high bar, considering we’ve been obsessed with everything FLETCHER has put out.

Dua Lipa

We needed to include Dua Lipa’s upcoming single ‘Training Season.’ Even though it’s not out yet, we simply could not talk about the women who dominate the music industry without talking about Dua Lipa. She’s already had crazy success recently with ‘Houdini‘ and the 2023 anthem for women everywhere ‘Dance the Night.’ ‘Training Season’ is out February 15, and we’re living off the teaser until then.

Rita Ora

‘Shape of Me’ by Rita Ora has been on our minds for a while, and she’s making sure it doesn’t go anywhere. Keith Urban certainly elevated the song, but it’s the new visualizer that we’re obsessed with. The song is about celebrating yourself and all the places and people you’ve come from. What better way to show that than with Rita’s own childhood family videos?
