Pop is not dead, but we are certainly dying of awe at Dua Lipa. Everyone’s favorite pop princess has dominated the radio with tracks like ‘Dance The Night,’ ‘Levitating,’ ‘One Kiss,’ 💋and more! We’ve been begging for more music, and our early Christmas present has been delivered! Dua’s newest drop, ‘Houdini,’ reminds us how fun, playful, and mesmerizing pop music is! Dua has tens across the board for best 80s pop princess realness.
Although the music video may seem simple at first, we really see Dua at her most authentic self here. Take away the flashing lights and the sparkly costumes and strip her down to neutral tones with fire-red hair in a dance studio, and you get a true diva. “Do you think about it night and day?” Yes, we certainly do. 😍
In her lyrics, Dua reminds all the baddies out there to know their worth! If you don’t treat us right, we’ll disappear and “go Houdini” on you. Sorry, not sorry. “Tell me all the ways you need me,” she sings. Shower us with praise, love, and adoration! 💐 It’s the bare minimum.
Our favorite part comes when her backup dancers emerge from the sidelines to gracefully lift her up and dance with her throughout the rest of the video. Regardless of old “bad dancing” allegations, Dua shows her audience that she can, and will, tear up the dancefloor one hair flip at a time! Suddenly we have the urge to learn the choreography and dye our hair red…🤭
