Honey Motel has won us over with their indie pop charm. The band effortlessly created a refreshing new sound that sets them apart! Their latest release, ‘Are You Coming With Me?’ is an invigorating blend of pop, psychedelic rock, and indie surf sleaze elements.
The song is a short and snappy tune with a glittery guitar in the background. With that in mind, Honey Motel takes us inside their mind of this well-known phenomenon. ‘Are You Coming With Me?‘ is a wavy tale of being in your mid-twenties and figuring out who you are. This is typically when the “quarter-life crisis” appears when we reflect and ponder if we are somebody.
“The pressure to do something great with your life can seem almost unbearable at 25. But who’s to say what being somebody is? Who decides the righteous way to live life? Who decides what success is? What is happiness? Nobody does, because these things are undefinable in any true sense.“

Being A Nobody Is The New Bliss
Your twenties are an exciting and chaotic time! Particularly when creating the concept of whether to be somebody or a nobody. All based on societal expectations of who you should be and what you should be doing at this stage. The sensational combination of synths, guitar reverb, sharp and clear vocals, and additional glistening effects create a pleasant other-dimensional vacuum for us to get pulled into.
“Are you coming with me, to the Milky Way?”
‘Are You Coming With Me?’ – Honey Motel
‘Are You Coming With Me?’ is the outstretched hand that, like us, listeners will grab to enter this escape from fulfilling something that we aren’t aligned with. It’s time to embrace being a “nobody.” Especially if it exclusively means we can be on a path for who we’re meant to be. Despite the song’s moody lyrics, the melodies hint at an optimistic vision of finding a new shore. Or to a new galaxy where we can all be who we’re meant to be.
To emphasize, being a nobody, you have control of your narrative. That, indeed, is a blissful experience to be the captain of.
We’ve Checked Into Honey Motel
The stay at Honey Motel is a ten-star review for us after we’ve danced to their addictive release. It’s good not to feel alone in setting the course in the adventures of adulthood! Likewise with being curious about the different ways we can take off! ‘Are You Coming With Me?’ is a treat for indie lovers alike! Notably so, if your weakness (like ours) is a funky slap bass in the bridge! It’s the lovely addition of extra texture to the song. We can’t get enough of that, ever!

The band reminds us through and through that together, we can seek an offbeat life built for us and not within the structures of society. Being a “no one” doesn’t have to be a negative thing when you let go of the expectations of the external.
“There is beauty in being a nobody. There is beauty in not subscribing to social norms of what success and happiness are meant to look like, it seems freeing, and liberating. Being a nobody seems like bliss. At least to me, anyway.”
Sam from Honey Motel
All that’s next is finding pieces of yourself at every turn you make and finding enjoyment and fulfillment elsewhere! In this case, this is an epic takeaway from a rockin’ tune from this Liverpool band!
