Looking for a new indie artist with something to say to add to your playlists? Boy, have we got a recommendation for you! And her name is Morgan Harper-Jones. This rising indie star is sure to capture your heart with soft melodies and deep lyrics that speak to us on a deep level. You may even recognize her from the soundtrack of the movie Love At First Sight, where she sings a cover of the iconic Whitney Houston song ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’
Morgan has been releasing music since 2020 and we’re so happy to learn that she is finally giving us a full length album this month! Up To The Glass comes out on March 22, following many singles and two very successful EPs, Breathe and While You Lay Sound Asleep.
So far, we’ve had a bit of a taste of what Up To The Glass will bring with some very beautiful singles, such as ‘Alone With You,’ ‘Boombox,’ ‘Joshua,’ and, of course, ‘2D,’ which is her latest release. From what we’ve got to hear so far, we can already tell this album is going to be a soft and dreamy exploration of what being a young adult is.
‘2D’ is, in Morgan’s own words, “probably the most Up To The Glass song on the album.” And we can truly feel how true that statement is by listening to the lyrics. And maybe we can relate a lot to feeling disconnected from ourselves. Just maybe. And knowing that we’re not alone in that feeling is actually great.
In summary, Up To The Glass is set to be an intimate and personal album from one of our new favorite artists. And we honestly cannot wait to see what Morgan Harper-Jones comes up with next.
