There are some artists who transcend your entire lifetime, and for a lot of people, Jesse McCartney is that exact artist. But then, every once in a while, you meet someone who says, “I don’t think I’ve heard of him before,” when you bring up the icon himself. And to that, the only response is, “Uhh, yes, you have!” So, instead of sitting here going on and on about how we can’t believe some people still don’t know Jesse McCartney by his name. There are some songs that, when you hear them, something otherworldly just takes over your body. And ‘Leavin” by Jesse McCartney is one of those songs for sure. The second that synth-base combo kicks in, you know the vibe is about to shift in the best way. You couldn’t escape this song back in the late 2010s, and for good reason! The album this banger is on, Departure, also featured the iconic hits ‘How Do You Sleep’ and ‘Body Language’ as well.
‘She’s No You’
There was something so beautiful about the year 2004. And maybe it was specifically because that’s the year we got this hit as well. Not only did Jesse lead the writing process on this one. But it’s a song we still know word-for-word to this day.
‘Why Don’t You Kiss Her?’
There’s something about a ballad from Jesse that just hits in all the right ways. But this one holds so many memories for us. It was featured in the iconic DCOM, Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama. This song, being the backing track to one of the best friends-to-lovers situations in Disney Channel history, is too perfect for words.
‘It Happens Every Time’
You might not consciously realize it, but Jesse McCartney was also a boyband icon. That’s right, Jesse was a part of the group Dream Street. The group may have only had one official album, but it wasn’t short of delivering legendary hits. ‘Sugar Rush’ is another fan favorite off the album!
‘Because You Live’
How could anyone forget this one? If it isn’t burned into your brain from its feature in Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, it is from you listening to this album on repeat like we did! Not only is this a power ballad that we blast in our cars, but it’s one that always boosts our mood when we hear it!
‘Beautiful Soul’
Wow, you seriously didn’t think we’d forget this one, did you? If there’s one song that can make anyone place Jesse McCartney within seconds, it’s ‘Beautiful Soul.’ This one is and was everything to us.
